Cloud Architect, AWS - Thailand (Contractor)

Location

Our Cloud Architect - AWS, will be an integral part of our Forward Deployed Engineering – Delivery in APAC.

This role is based remotely in Thailand as an individual contractor.

Who We Are

DoiT is a global technology company that works with cloud-driven organizations to leverage the cloud to drive business growth and innovation. We combine data, technology, and human expertise to ensure our customers operate in a well-architected and scalable state - from planning to production.

Delivering DoiT Cloud Intelligence, the only solution that integrates advanced technology with human intelligence, we help our customers solve complex multicloud problems and drive efficiency.

With decades of multicloud experience, we have specializations in Kubernetes, GenAI, CloudOps, and more. An award-winning strategic partner of AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure, we work alongside more than 4,000 customers worldwide.

The Team: Forward Deployed Engineering – Delivery

Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) sit at the intersection of customers, cloud platforms, and DoiT Cloud Intelligence™. In the Delivery capacity, FDEs are embedded technical partners for existing customers, focused on:

  • Making DoiT Cloud Intelligence™  trusted and indispensable in day‑to‑day customers’ cloud operations
  • Removing technical barriers to adoption across cost, reliability, security, and performance
  • Turning one‑off solutions into reusable patterns that improve both customer outcomes and the product

FDEs operate as part of an integrated account team, working closely with Customer Success Managers (CSMs), Account Managers (AMs), other FDEs, and Product Support Specialists (PSS) to deliver impactful outcomes for customers across different segments and tiers.

The Opportunity

As a Cloud Architect in the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) – Delivery, you will:

  • Act as trusted advisor for customers and Account Team by leveraging your domain expertise to align with customer's business outcomes and Account Team's strategic engagement.
  • Become an expert in DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ (DCI) products and services—such as Cloud Analytics, DCI Insights, Cloud Composer, CloudFlow, DataHub, and more - to help customers optimize their cloud operations and better operate, analyze, and monitor their cloud workloads.
  • Use those tools hands‑on to:
    • surface and explain cost, performance, security, and reliability signals
    • design and implement automations and workflows that reduce toil for customers and internally
    • embed DCI into customers’ existing observability, CI/CD, and governance processes
  • Specializing in Cloud Infrastructure, while adaptable to acquire necessary knowledge to cover level 100 topics on Data, ML, GenAI to support customers and organization's business needs.

  • Work directly with customers' engineers, architects, and FinOps teams to translate vague pain points into concrete technical plans, and then ship changes that stick and make an impact.
  • Feed learnings from the field back into DoiT:
    • identifying repeatable use cases that should become standard patterns
    • partnering with Product and Engineering on product gaps, features, and “gravel roads” to pave

This role is ideal for someone who wants to stay hands-on technical, but also enjoys consulting, teaching, collaborating with account teams to deliver measurable impact across customer segments (from smaller growth accounts to large, complex enterprises).

Responsibilities

  • Respond to Expert Inquiry / support tickets that require deep engineering expertise, ensuring high‑quality, well‑explained resolutions rather than “black‑box” fixes.
  • Design and review architectures across compute, networking, storage, IAM, and observability.
  • Consult how to build IaC‑based deployments (e.g., Terraform, Cloudformation) and advise on CI/CD integration.
  • Help customers adopt containerization and orchestration or serverless solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, managed K8s, serverless platforms).

Customer‑Facing Delivery

  • Serve as the primary technical delivery partner to customers, with a focus on CloudOps/FinOps, reliability, security, and performance.
  • Develop and deploy solutions predominantly on AWS, while also providing support for Google Cloud and Azure as required, ensuring the solutions:
    • improve cost efficiency (rightsizing, reservations/commitments, storage optimization, etc.)
    • increase reliability and resilience (HA architectures, SLO/SLA‑aware designs)
    • strengthen security posture (IAM, network segmentation, data protection, least‑privilege)
    • reduce operational toil (automation, self‑service, guardrails, policy enforcement)
  • Use DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ to drive concrete actions:
    • Build and operationalize Cloud Analytics dashboards and reports for engineering, finance, and leadership.
    • Use DCI Insights to identify and prioritize cost, risk, and reliability opportunities, and shepherd them through to closure.
    • Implement Cloud Composer queries and views to support FinOps and engineering use cases.
    • Build CloudFlow automations (e.g., anomaly routing, scheduled actions, guardrails, policy enforcement).
    • Use DataHub and other workload‑intelligence features to optimize key data and analytics platforms.
  • Plan and deliver structured engagements such as:
    • cost optimization / efficiency workshops
    • security posture or reliability reviews
    • architecture deep dives and “well‑architected” style assessments
    • product adoption and enablement sessions (how to use DCI effectively)

Cloud & Domain‑Specific Engineering

  • Design and review architectures across compute, networking, storage, IAM, and observability.
  • Consult how to build IaC‑based deployments (e.g., Terraform, Cloudformation) and advise on CI/CD integration.
  • Help customers adopt containerization and orchestration or serverless solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, managed K8s, serverless platforms).

Product & Pattern Feedback

  • Transform bespoke customer solutions into Gravel Roads, reusable patterns for the DCI platform (available at https://help.doit.com/docs/doit-platform). These patterns include, but are not limited to, playbooks, IaC‑based modules (e.g., Terraform modules), blueprints, CloudFlow templates, CloudDiagrams, Composer Recipes, and DCI Insights.
  • Provide structured feedback to Product and Engineering on:
    • product gaps and friction points discovered in real‑world usage
    • new opportunities for automation and workload lenses within DCI
    • telemetry and tracking that would make future FDE work more efficient
  • Contribute to internal enablement: share learnings via documentation, demos, office hours, or training sessions for other FDEs and Customer Success team members.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Operate as part of your organic FDE team (including your direct manager) and the wider global FDE community, building strong working relationships with peers across regions, time zones, and domains.
  • Collaborate with other FDEs to:
    • co-deliver complex or multi-domain engagements (for example, infra + data + ML/GenAI)
    • review and refine designs, Gravel Roads, and engagement plans
    • share best practices, lessons learned, and reusable assets so customers everywhere benefit from the best available expertise
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement within the FDE organization by participating in design reviews, internal forums, enablement sessions, and experimentation.
  • Communicate complex technical topics in a way that is clear to both engineers and non‑technical stakeholders (FinOps, finance, leadership).
  • Maintain clear documentation of architectures, decisions, and implemented changes so customers and fellow FDEs can sustain and build on your work.

Qualifications

Required

  • Hands‑on cloud experience
    • 5-7+ years of experience designing, deploying, and operating production workloads on AWS.
    • Certifications on one or more AWS Certifications (at least one AWS Professional / Specialty).
    • Comfortable reading and reasoning about architectures that span compute, storage, networking, IAM, and observability.
  • Depth in at least one domain
    • Cloud Infrastructure – e.g., distributed systems, container platforms, serverless, infra automation, SRE‑style operational excellence.
  • Automation & engineering mindset
    • Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep, Deployment Manager) and integrating with CI/CD.
  • Observability and cost awareness
    • Practical experience with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (cloud‑native and/or third‑party).
    • Demonstrated ability to reason about cost vs performance vs reliability, and to communicate those trade‑offs to customers.
  • Customer‑facing experience
    • Prior work in a role that involves direct interaction with customers or internal stakeholders (e.g., consulting, SRE, solutions/forward‑deployed engineering, technical support, or similar).
    • Ability to lead technical conversations, drive consensus, and move from problem statement to concrete plan.
  • Account‑team collaboration
    • Proven ability to work in an account team capacity with CSMs, AMs, other FDEs, and specialist roles, coordinating efforts to deliver impactful outcomes across different customer segments and tiers.
  • Collaboration & communication
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and native Thai.
    • Comfortable working with distributed teams across time zones and cultures.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with FinOps practices and tooling, or with formal SRE practices (SLOs, error budgets, incident management).
  • Experience using or integrating platforms similar to DoiT Cloud Intelligence™ (cost management, workload intelligence, automation platforms).
  • Contributions to open‑source projects, technical blogging, public speaking, or internal enablement programs.
