Senior Manager, Competitive Intelligence

POSITION SUMMARY 

This role is required to be in office 5 days a week.

The Senior Manager of Competitive Intelligence at Domo will lead the Competitive Intelligence (CI) function and drive strategic initiatives to support our company’s primary goals: Ecosystem Development, Consumption Migration, and Adoption. This role requires a strategic thinker who is not afraid to get stuff done, with excellent leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Product, Revenue, Marketing, and Ecosystem stakeholders.  Experience with influenced-based leadership is key.  Expertise in the data technology landscape (analytics, BI, ETL/data prep, workflow, App development, and AI/MLOps) will be needed in order to hit the ground running.  

The candidate should expect to participate in a content exercise as part of late-round interviews. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Leadership and Strategy

  • Lead the Competitive Committee, comprising leaders from Product, Revenue, Marketing, and Ecosystem, to drive competitive strategy and insights;
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Competitive Intelligence plan aligned with Domo’s strategic objectives;
  • Provide thought leadership on competitive trends, market dynamics, and emerging technologies to inform company strategy. 

Competitive Analysis

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of competitors’ products, services, and market strategies, including primary research;
  • Monitor and report on competitive activities, market trends, and industry developments;
  • Develop content & collateral (field enablement, marketing copy, etc.) and recommendations to enhance Domo’s competitive positioning. 

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Product teams to align competitive insights with product development and innovation;
  • Work closely with Revenue teams to support sales strategies and positioning;
  • Collaborate with Marketing to craft compelling messaging and go-to-market strategies that differentiate Domo from competitors;
  • Engage with Ecosystem teams to identify opportunities for partnerships and integrations. 

Strategic Goals Support

  • Support Ecosystem team by helping to identify market opportunities and building necessary enablement content for partnership efforts;
  • Develop strategies to support Consumption migration by defining positioning strategies and educating Field and Customers accordingly;
  • Influence adoption through better positioning of Domo with our customer base, including identification of use case paradigms that are differentiated for Domo.

Reporting and Communication 

  • Develop and present regular reports on competitive landscape, market opportunities, and strategic recommendations;
  • Communicate insights and strategies effectively to senior leadership and key stakeholders. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, Economics, Engineering, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred;
  • 7+ years of experience in Competitive Intelligence, Market Research, Strategy, or a related field, with at least 3 years in a leadership role at a data technology company;
  • Proven track record of influenced-based leadership;
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights and lead primary research;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders;
  • Experience in the BI SaaS or technology sector preferred;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

LOCATION: Greater Salt Lake City area preferred
