Senior Manager, International Tax and Special Projects

About the Team

It’s an exciting time to join our rapidly growing Tax team and be a part of the fast growth the Company is experiencing, particularly with M&A initiatives and jurisdictional growth! The Tax team is heavily involved in the operations of the business that impact Dashers, Merchants and Customers. As a key partner to the business, we are involved at the front end on plans for new products and country expansions. As DoorDash continues to expand its business lines, product offerings, and global footprint, partnering with the business teams to bring tax awareness for such initiatives continues to grow in importance.

About the Role

We are seeking a key contributor to the Tax team reporting to the Senior Director, International Tax and Special Projects. In this role, the Senior Manager will be a member of the team that performs a variety of functions primarily relating to international tax issues associated with world-wide tax planning projects, including legal entity and intellectual property holding structures, M&A integrations, and international tax law implementations, integrating and coordinating with the compliance, reporting, transfer pricing and controversy teams. We employ a one-team approach, so the Senior Manager will be working closely with internal tax resources in Finland and other international jurisdictions. The ideal candidate will have proven experience working collaboratively with broader business organizations, effectively identifying and communicating complex tax topics to Executives that affect global businesses. You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Project manage US and multinational tax planning projects, corporate restructurings and M&A integrations. 
  • Provide tax advice within the Tax team and key internal stakeholders throughout DoorDash on strategic tax planning initiatives, legislative developments, and other ad hoc matters.
  • Analyze and model scenarios to assess tax implications of planning strategies in support of tax compliance and tax provision.
  • Review all aspects of U.S. international income tax compliance and reporting associated with international tax planning initiatives, including E&P, Subpart F, GILTI, FDII, BEAT and foreign tax credit calculations. 
  • Provide US international tax support to federal tax compliance and reporting group, tax controversy and transfer pricing teams, international tax partners, and cross-functional teams (e.g., Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, and Legal), as required.
  • Prepare/review technical and non-technical tax research memos.
  • Research, analyze, model and communicate the tax technical, economic, business, and financial statement impacts of tax legislation and regulatory proposals to determine the potential or overall impact to the organization.
  • Manage ad hoc tax projects as required or as needed.
  • Operate at the lowest level of detail, diving into all things that directly or indirectly impact tax for DoorDash’s international landscape to help drive shareholder value and minimize risk.
  • Communicate with stakeholders at all levels on project plans, status, and important issues.
  • Design scalable playbooks that document the team’s tax policies and procedures. 
  • Manage external advisors as necessary. 

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 8+ years of experience in a multinational tax compliance/reporting/planning function with project management, consulting, or related experience.
  • You have experience managing large consulting, advisory, or other project engagements.
  • You have a proven track record of managing cross-functional projects with multiple dependencies in a fast-moving environment.
  • You have demonstrated success in your ability to explain complex tax issues in a clear and understandable manner.
  • You roll up your sleeves and do whatever is necessary to drive results, even if it's outside your normal areas of focus.
  • You have a strong attention to detail and analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and can motivate people at all levels across a variety of job responsibilities.
  • You approach your role with a strong moral compass and integrity.

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

See below for paid time off details:

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

The base pay for this position ranges from our lowest geographical market up to our highest geographical market within the United States.

$155,000 - $228,000 USD
