The Communications team tells the story of how DoorDash empowers local economies by connecting customers to the best of their communities. The team is a collaborative group with important partners, touching every corner of the organization. A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, meticulous attention to detail, and out-of-the-box thinking, coupled with a true team spirit and the ability to juggle projects and priorities, are what makes this group so effective. A role on this team will require expertise in media relations, policy communications, and issues management.

About the Role

We’re excited to hire for two Manager, Public Affairs Communications roles (Western US and Eastern US). In this role, you’ll be responsible for crafting and sharing the narrative around DoorDash’s public policy campaigns across your region and at the federal level. You will own and drive the narrative around how we’re empowering local economies. Your day to day would include:

  • Developing and managing communications strategy for state & local policy campaigns and initiatives to help shape DoorDash’s strategic narrative, working closely with Policy, Legal, and other teams.
  • Leading public affairs proactive and reactive campaigns across the region that align with both policy and business priorities to advance policy objectives, help grow the business, and build DoorDash’s brand narrative locally.
  • Assisting in issues management, advance planning and scenario mapping to develop response plans and materials for various potential issues.
  • Developing media engagement strategies and enhance our relationship with essential media and influencers at the national, state and local level by telling the story of how DoorDash empowers local economies.
  • Thinking strategically about all elements of a successful Public Affairs campaign, work with stakeholders to develop and execute on campaign plans. 

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 5-7+ years experience managing and executing public affairs campaigns and working with national and local media outlets to help advance public policy objectives. You understand the politics and media in the West region and can hit the ground running.
  • You have experience working in fast-paced, fluid and challenging environments, and are familiar with the tech space and related issues. 
  • You’ve cut your teeth working directly with elected officials, government agencies or political campaigns.
  • You’ve demonstrated cross-functional leadership, taking ownership of communications programs and building strategic plans in a complex organization with varied priorities.
  • You have excellent people and project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines.
  • You are a master communicator, inclusive of listening and speaking, and a true leader, collaborator, and consensus builder. 
  • You’re a self-starter, intrinsically motivated, detail oriented, and also a good teammate.
  • You take your work, but not yourself, seriously—and maintain a good sense of humor about both.

Compensation

Actual compensation within the pay range listed below will be decided based on factors including, but not limited to, skills, prior relevant experience, and specific work location. Base salary is localized according to employee work location.

See below for paid time off details:

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.

$136,000 - $200,000 USD
