San Francisco, CA; Los Angeles, CA; Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; New York, NY; Washington, DC; Phoenix, AZ

About the Team

The Communications team tells the story of how DoorDash empowers local economies by connecting customers to the best of their communities. The team is a collaborative group with important partners, touching every corner of the organization. A roll-up-your-sleeves attitude, meticulous attention to detail, and out-of-the-box thinking, coupled with a true team spirit and the ability to juggle projects and priorities, are what makes this group so effective. A role on this team will require expertise in media relations, policy communications, and issues management.

About the Role

As the Manager of Trust & Safety Communications, you’ll lead proactive storytelling and rapid response around some of the most important and challenging issues at DoorDash. From highlighting our ongoing safety efforts to managing high-stakes media inquiries, this role sits at the intersection of narrative building and issues management. You’ll partner closely with teams across Trust & Safety, Product, Strategy & Operations, Marketing, Policy, Legal, and Engineering to shape and share our safety story, while driving core reactive strategies across earned, owned, and social channels. If you’re a strategic thinker and problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments, this role is for you.

Your day to day might look like…

  • Developing and executing a communications strategy to launch a suite of new products aimed at making dashing safer
  • Managing responses to media inquiries about trust and safety incidents, including escalating and investigating with cross-functional partners
  • Researching and establishing brand new partnerships with relevant safety organizations to help tell better stories at the local level
  • Closely monitoring conversations about the DoorDash brand on social platforms and escalating if something starts to go viral
  • Brainstorming creative responses to issues and crises across social and earned media platforms

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have 5+ years experience in trust and safety communications, crisis management or public affairs.
  • You have experience working in fast-paced, fluid and challenging environments, and are preferably familiar with the tech space and related issues.
  • You have a deep understanding of the media and what makes a story, and a proven record of successfully managing journalists and shaping stories.
  • You are digital and social-savvy, and have experience managing and responding to crises on social media.
  • You are a strong writer and able to distill complex issues into clear, easy-to-understand messages.
  • You have excellent people and project management skills, with the ability to lead and manage multiple time-sensitive projects under tight deadlines.
  • You’re a self-starter, intrinsically motivated, detail oriented, and also a good teammate.
  • You take your work, but not yourself, seriously—and maintain a good sense of humor about both.
