Senior Operations Associate, Geospatial Programs
About the Team
DoorDash Labs is an independent team within DoorDash. We explore robotics and automation to transform last-mile logistics in the long term. If you have a passion for applying autonomous aviation technologies in a service used by millions of people, then we want to talk to you!
About the Role
This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of drone delivery by:
- defining, testing, and maintaining the standards and workflows that determine where and how we operate
- using mapping, LiDAR, and geospatial tools to evaluate site feasibility, safety, and delivery coverage
- managing a small, high-performing team responsible for mapping accuracy, delivery zone validation, and spatial data integrity
- partnering with Product, Engineering, Flight Operations, and Policy to develop scalable systems for creating and maintaining delivery zones
- collaborating with cities, property managers, and multifamily developers to unlock new types of delivery locations and permissions
- contributing to playbooks, data pipelines, and strategic decisions that guide how we launch and expand delivery zones across markets
- traveling up to 20% of the time to support field validation, site setup, and operational readiness
This is a hybrid role based in the Bay Area. Regular in-person collaboration with cross-functional partners is required to test workflows, shape product direction, and accelerate decision-making.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…
- shape how we define, evaluate, and expand Drone Delivery Zones using operational and spatial analysis
- apply mapping and geospatial tools (LiDAR, GIS, QGIS, or equivalent) to assess coverage, obstacles, and safety criteria
- partner with Product and Engineering to improve internal tooling for site selection, zone validation, and real-time monitoring
- collaborate with Policy and Flight Ops to ensure every delivery zone meets regulatory, airspace, and operational requirements
- support launch readiness across key locations, ensuring seamless integration of new zones into live operations
- contribute to SOPs, data standards, and training materials that make the program scalable across markets
- use SQL, dashboards, and geospatial analysis tools to monitor system performance, surface insights, and drive continuous improvement
We’re excited about you because…
- you get operations and geospatial context: you’ve supported live operations, understand how data drives real-world performance, and can manage complexity in motion
- you use data to drive action: you’re confident in SQL and familiar with mapping and LiDAR concepts; you use data to diagnose problems, prioritize work, and guide decisions
- you build for scale and clarity: you design workflows and documentation that work at 10x the current volume
- you’re curious about autonomy and airspace: you’re excited about how drones, mapping, and infrastructure intersect in real-world logistics
- you’re collaborative: you work fluidly across product, engineering, and policy teams, and communicate clearly even in ambiguity
- you move fast and bring others with you: you’re action-oriented, adaptable, and know how to align stakeholders toward a shared outcome
