About the Role
DoorDash is seeking a talented attorney with deep experience in commercial dispute resolution to join our Litigation team at a pivotal stage of company growth. The Litigation Director will manage a senior counsel and will be responsible for handling a broad portfolio of risk management issues.
Litigators at DoorDash are not only experienced practitioners and legal subject matter experts, but also skilled business counselors who see around corners and help craft business first solutions that achieve results while mitigating risk.
Candidates should have a strong attention to detail, be execution oriented, have strong business acumen, superior analytical and writing skills, and should be enthusiastic, well organized, and a team player. Management experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to operate in a fast-paced environment, and a healthy dose of humor and humility are also essential.

- Own a broad portfolio of litigation and pre-litigation matters in a wide range of practice areas and in all U.S. jurisdictions as well as Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
- Take a hands-on approach to all facets of litigation, including responding to subpoenas and discovery requests, drafting and revising legal briefs, interviewing witnesses, preparing witnesses for testimony, and negotiating and drafting settlements.
- Manage all aspects of outside counsel relationships, including staffing, litigation strategy, work product, and budgets.
- Advise business partners to proactively address and resolve potential disputes while supporting business objectives.
- Manage a small, but mighty team primarily focused on consumer and merchant disputes.
Devise scalable processes and procedures to help support a rapidly-growing business.
We’re excited about you because…
- You have a J.D.
- You have 15+ years of broad litigation experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house, handling complex commercial litigation, including class action litigation, alternative dispute resolution and pre-litigation disputes.
- You have managed teams of lawyers and/or legal professionals.
- You’re able to craft legal solutions in novel ways, provide practical advice and properly balance risks and business reward.
- You are proficient with AI tools and solutions and incorporate them into your day to day work as a litigator.
- You’re familiar with e-discovery issues, including document retention policies and procedures; collection, review, and production of documents; and third party subpoena compliance.
- You have strong organizational skills, an ability to juggle multiple projects at a time in a fast-moving, quickly-changing environment, both collaborating as a team and working independently.
- You’re an outstanding communicator, both orally and in writing with the ability to advocate for a position while maintaining an open-minded approach.
- You have a positive attitude (no task is too big or too small!)

- Prior in-house experience at a technology or sharing economy company.
- Experience with consumer protectionx law, consumer class actions and mass arbitrations.
Compensation
The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.
In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants. Talk to your recruiter for more information.

See below for paid time off details:
- For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
- For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).
The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.
$244,800 - $360,000 USD
