Strategy & Operations Manager - Ads & Promotions Supply

San Francisco, CA; New York, NY; Seattle, WA; Chicago, IL; Los Angeles, CA

About the Team

Our Advertising & Promotion team operates at the intersection of e-commerce and advertising, building systems that surface and monetize relevant content for our core audiences. We develop digital solutions that help advertisers reach DoorDash customers while maintaining a high-quality consumer experience.

As our ads business scales, we are investing in building foundational systems—from pricing and bidding to global platform consistency. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Sales, this team defines how our ads platform operates today and scales into the future.

About the Role

This role sits at the center of our Ads & Promotions platform, focused on building scalable monetization systems and driving high-impact business outcomes. You will operate as a single-threaded owner across critical initiatives, working cross-functionally to define strategy, shape product direction, and drive execution.

This role may focus on one or both of the following areas:

1. Ads Pricing & Monetization Systems

  • Design and evolve pricing and bidding mechanisms
  • Build frameworks that unify ads and promotions into a cohesive ecosystem
  • Develop scalable pricing systems (e.g., dynamic pricing, reserve pricing, experimentation frameworks)
  • Partner with Product and Data Science to define models, inputs, and success metrics
  • Drive adoption and performance of monetization features across advertisers

2. Global Ads Systems & Platform Scaling

  • Define how our ads platform scales across global markets
  • Establish standardized frameworks across pricing, formats, inventory, and user experience
  • Build systems that balance global consistency with local flexibility
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to scale solutions across regions
  • Develop playbooks to support international expansion and long-term platform growth

Across both areas, you will:

  • Own key business metrics and deliver against revenue, efficiency, and experience goals
  • Drive initiatives end-to-end from problem definition through launch and iteration
  • Develop data-driven insights and business cases to inform product strategy and prioritization
  • Partner cross-functionally across Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Sales
  • Act as a bridge between business and technical teams to ensure solutions are both strategically sound and operationally scalable

You’re excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Be an owner: You will operate as a single-threaded owner for critical monetization problems, defining strategy and driving execution end-to-end
  • Build systems: You’ll design scalable frameworks that power the ads business—not just one-off solutions
  • Solve complex problems: You approach ambiguous challenges with structured, first-principles thinking and strong business judgment
  • Shape the product: You will partner deeply with Product, Engineering, data science, and sales to influence what gets built and how it works
  • Drive impact at scale: Your work will directly impact revenue, advertiser outcomes, and the consumer experience across markets

We’re excited about you because you have…

  • 6+ years of experience in strategy, operations, monetization, or ads (e.g., marketplace, pricing, growth, or ad tech)
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams
  • A proven track record of owning ambiguous, high-impact problems end-to-end
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving skills (SQL preferred)
  • Experience with pricing, monetization systems, or marketplace dynamics (preferred)
  • Ability to operate at both a strategic level and dive deep into data and execution
