Food Safety Certification Implementation Specialist

Location - This role will be based out of our Burr Ridge production facility
About the role:
This role will be directly responsible for the implementation of the BRCGS food safety and quality management system by working cross-functionally to drive compliance, continuous improvement and operational excellence. It will report to the Director of FSQR.
Responsibilities:
- Program Implementation & Compliance
- Lead the development, implementation and integration of BRCGS Food Safety standards across the organization, from raw material receiving through order fulfillment
- Create, update, and maintain policies, SOPs, work instructions, and supporting documentation required for certification.
- Conduct internal audits, gap assessments, and readiness reviews to verify compliance with BRCGS requirements and identify improvement opportunities.
- Coordinate preparation activities for BRCGS certification audits, including documentation readiness, employee training, and corrective action follow-up and verification.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Operations, FSQA, Maintenance & Engineering,Sanitation, Commercialization, and Supply Chain teams to embed food safety standards into day-to-day operations
- Provide training and coaching to build organizational understanding of BRCGS requirements on topics such as allergen management, foreign material control, sanitation effectiveness and GMPs.
- Serve as the subject-matter expert on BRCGS standards, providing guidance, solutions, and risk-based recommendations.
- Translate technical requirements into clear, actionable guidance and offer practical recommendations to meet standards in a growing food manufacturing environment
- Risk Management and Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and analyze food safety and quality data, including environmental monitoring results, non-conformances, customer complaints, and process deviations to drive continuous improvement.
- Lead root cause analyses and drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) with cross-functional teams
- Support implementation of process improvements that enhance food safety, productivity, and audit readiness
- Ensure all documentation, records and verification activities are accurate, organized and meet regulatory and audit expectations.
- Member of HACCP and Recall teams
- Support document control activities and management of the document registry
- Performs other duties as assigned
Experience & Skills we value:
- 5-8 years of experience in corporate food safety, quality assurance, or plant operations in a food manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated success in implementing or auditing BRCGS food safety standards
- Experience conducting internal audits and managing third-party audits
- Extensive knowledge of food safety principles, HACCP, GMPs and regulatory requirements (FDA/USDA, FSMA)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with diverse teams and stakeholders
- Skilled at identifying root causes and recommending effective solutions
- Able to drive change by influence others within and outside of the organization
- Bachelor’s degree required in Food Science, Biology, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
Nice to have and/or you’ll learn:
- Experience supporting GFSI-recognized schemes (SQF, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000)
- Experience with eQMS and ERP systems, including TraceGains, Redzone and Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Experience working in a snack manufacturing operation
- BRCGS professional, lead auditor or Internal Auditor Certification
- HACCP certification, GMP certification

Base Pay range for this position:
- $79,000 - $101,000 annually
- Target Annual Bonus: 15% of base salary
The final discretionary compensation that will be offered for this role depends on a variety of factors, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location.
Work Authorization Requirement:
This position requires current authorization to work in the United States. We do not provide visa sponsorship, including support for F-1 Optional Practical Training (OPT), STEM OPT extensions, or other temporary work authorization programs.
