The Opportunity

The Apprentice Electrician role is where many electrical careers take shape. Working alongside journeyman electricians and foremen on active commercial and industrial jobsites across the state of Texas, you build real, hands-on skills in the trade. You start by assisting experienced electricians and, level by level, take on more responsibility and independence as your abilities grow.

This is a four-level path (Apprentice I through IV), with each level building on the last in technical depth, independence, and responsibility. As you develop, you may also have the opportunity to pursue our accredited apprenticeship through DP University to formalize your training, though it is not a requirement of the role. Throughout, you work under the guidance of skilled electricians and keep safety and quality workmanship at the center of everything you do.

What You'll Do

These core responsibilities apply at every apprentice level. The scope and independence with which you perform them grow as you advance.

  • Assist with installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, including wiring, transformers, switchgear, motors, and other components.
  • Bend and install conduit, including EMT, rigid, and PVC.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical diagrams under the guidance of a journeyman or foreman.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues, and help identify effective solutions.
  • Follow industry standards and safety regulations, and conduct inspections to keep installations compliant.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and follow all safety protocols at all times.
  • Coordinate with other trades and contractors on the jobsite to keep projects on schedule.
  • Participate in training and mentorship to build your knowledge and skills in the trade.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, tools used, and materials handled.
  • Adhere to company tool policies and take responsibility for investing in and maintaining your trade tools.

  • Perform all aspects of rough-in with minimal supervision.
  • Bend larger EMT and rigid conduit using mechanical and table benders.

  • A strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

  • Conduit-bending experience, including mechanical or hydraulic benders (for advanced levels).
  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and eagerness to learn.

We recognize that experience comes from many paths. An equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience that results in successful performance of the job is welcomed. Additional education may substitute for required experience on a one-for-one year basis, or vice versa.
