Software Engineering Intern (Unannounced Project)

Guildford

Location: Guildford, UK 

Duration: 10 weeks; June - August 

Format: On-site (minimum of 3 days per week working from the office) 

Terms: Full-time, paid 

Eligibility: Candidates are required to hold a valid work permit/visa at the time of the application and must be a student currently studying in the UK.

Join our team of professionals as we build the foundations of our brand-new, unannounced, F2P game.  

DPS Games are looking for an intern Software Engineer to play a key role in the creation of the next big free-to-play title from Wargaming, the company that brought us World of Tanks and one of the strongest free-to-play PC game companies in the world. 

If you have a passion for gaming, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, this is your chance to shine in a crucial role that directly impacts the implementation of our games. You will work closely with experienced professionals and play an integral part in bringing our upcoming game title to audiences worldwide! 

 

What will you learn? 

  • How to develop and implement game systems, tools and mechanics using Unreal Engine 5; 
  • How to optimise and fix bugs in existing systems; 
  • How to write robust, maintainable code with extensibility in mind; 
  • Development processes and pipelines (code review, plannings, retrospectives, etc.); 
  • Best practices and effective communication in a collaborative team environment. 

 

What are we looking for? 

  • A current student in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Games Development, or a related field; 
  • Solid C++ programming skill; 
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail; 
  • Proactive problem-solving attitude and effective communication skills; 
  • An individual with a passion for games programming. 

 

What will help you stand out? 

  • A strong portfolio of your work (including game jams, personal or educational projects); 
  • Experience programming in Unreal Engine 5; 
  • Knowledge of games development life cycle; 
  • Familiarity with source control and task management software; 
  • Knowledge of AGILE game production practices.
