Principal Associate Scientist/Scientist I
Dragonfly Therapeutics is seeking a Principal Associate Scientist/Scientist I to join our team (Title commensurate with experience).
Responsibilities include providing biophysical and biochemical characterization of our candidates to inform lead selection, performing developability assessments, interpreting and summarizing results, authoring technical reports, representing the Protein Sciences function on cross-functional teams. The candidate must be independent, goal-oriented, flexible, and able to work efficiently across multiple projects. We are searching for enthusiastic and innovative individuals with a keen eye for detail, who thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Biophysical and Biochemical Characterization: Perform comprehensive protein analytics using techniques such as size-exclusion chromatography (SEC-MALS), hydrophobic interaction chromatography (HIC), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)/differential scanning fluorimetry (DSF), capillary electrophoresis (CE-SDS), and capillary isoelectric focusing (cIEF)
- Developability Assessments: Plan, coordinate, and conduct in-depth developability assessments to inform lead candidate selection by evaluating stability, aggregation propensity, and structural integrity
- Implementation of new technologies: Stay up-to-date on new and emerging technologies, evaluating assays/instrumentation, internalizing and developing methods that add to the characterization toolbox
- Data Interpretation and Reporting: Analyze experimental data, review and interpret complex data, and summarize findings in technical reports. Contribute to internal discussions and external presentations to cross-functional teams
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain high standards of documentation, ensuring accurate and timely recording of experimental workflows, protocols, and results in electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN)
- Reagent Preparation and Equipment Maintenance: Prepare reagents and buffers, maintain lab equipment, and ensure a seamless flow of experiments in support of project timelines
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Represent the Protein Sciences function on cross-functional and external project teams, contributing technical expertise and driving alignment on analytical methodologies and project goals
Education:
- B.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline, with 8+ years of relevant industrial experience, or
- M.Sc. in Biochemistry, Biochemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related discipline, with 6+ years
Technical Expertise:
- Strong hands-on experience with protein analytics techniques such as SEC, HIC, DSC/DSF, CE-SDS, and cIEF
- Proficiency in characterizing post-translational modifications, protein aggregation, and assessing protein stability
Skills:
- Excellent data analysis and interpretation skills, with familiarity using statistical tools and software for data processing (e.g., GraphPad Prism, Spotfire)
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for presenting data and drafting technical reports
