DriveWhip is a mobility provider in the Washington, DC area, with offices in multiple cities, that leases and rents vehicles to Uber, Lyft, and other On-Demand or Rideshare drivers. As a ground-floor member of an exciting new company, all associates will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities. An appreciation for the pros and cons of startup culture is a must.

Position Summary
As a Lube Technician, you are the first line of defense in maintaining our fleet’s health. You will be responsible for performing high-volume preventative maintenance, including oil changes, fluid flushes, and safety inspections. You will also assist in shuttling vehicles between locations and dealerships and ensuring all cars meet our mechanical standards before they hit the road.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Include, but are not limited to the following):
- Perform routine maintenance: Conduct oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations with speed and accuracy.
- Fluid Management: Check, top off, or flush essential fluids including coolant, transmission, brake, and windshield washer fluids.
- Safety Inspections: Perform comprehensive multi-point inspections (belts, hoses, brake pads, and battery health) to identify potential issues before they become breakdowns.
- Tire Service: Check tire pressure, tread depth, and perform tire plugs or replacements as needed.
- Diagnostic Support: Identify and report mechanical "red flags" or warning lights to management.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate digital or paper logs of all services performed to ensure fleet compliance.
- Shop Stewardship: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment; manage inventory of oil, filters, and shop supplies.
Qualifications Required:
- Mechanical Aptitude: Previous experience in automotive maintenance (Lube Tech, Tire Tech, or GS) is highly preferred.
- Startup Mindset: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing daily priorities.
- Reliability: Flexible to be on-call or work adjusted shifts as needed.
- Physical Strength: Ability to lift 50 lbs. and handle heavy shop equipment or wheel/tire sets.
- Authorization: Must be authorized to work in the United States without future sponsorship.
- Driving Record: Must have a valid US driver's license for a minimum of 1 year with a clean driving history.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in the last 6 years in labor, automotive repair, shop environments, or hands-on technical roles.
Physical Demands:
- Required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and kneel (often under vehicles or on lifts) throughout the workday.
- Must be able to frequently lift, move, and carry objects up to 50 pounds, including toolboxes, oil drums, and tires.
- The position requires repetitive motions of the hands, wrists, and arms, such as using wrenches, impact tools, and oil guns.
- Work may be performed in both indoor shop bays and outdoor environments; exposure to varying weather, loud noise, and automotive chemicals (oil, grease, solvents) is expected.
Salary: $18 - $25 per hour; depending on experience.
