About the role

We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to deepen Dropzone’s integrations. You’ll design and deliver backend capabilities that expand what our product can do and make it easier for customers to connect Dropzone to their security environments.

This is a hands-on engineering role with ownership from design through production. You’ll work closely with product and security experts to build new integrations that improve our investigations and threat hunts. You should enjoy solving complex backend problems, navigating third-party systems, and building software that customers depend on.

What you'll do

Integrate with security tools: Develop connectors for platforms such as SIEM, EDR, SOAR, cloud security, identity, and threat intelligence systems.
Enable richer investigations: Build services that retrieve security telemetry, enrich alerts with context, and make relevant data available to Dropzone’s investigation workflows.
Design for reliability: Handle rate limits, pagination, retries, timeouts, schema changes, and partial failures across third-party APIs.
Build security into the platform: Apply strong authentication, authorization, credential management, tenant isolation, and audit logging.
Own production outcomes: Write automated tests, instrument services, monitor performance, and troubleshoot issues across APIs and integrations.
Collaborate and raise the bar: Partner with product and security experts, contribute to architecture decisions, review code, and mentor fellow engineers.
Deliver with sound judgment: Make practical tradeoffs, communicate risks early, and ship improvements that balance speed, maintainability, and customer impact.

Requirements

5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant experience building backend services and production APIs.
Strong proficiency in Python.
Experience designing REST APIs, including resource modeling, versioning, authentication, authorization, and backward compatibility.
Experience integrating with third-party APIs and troubleshooting behavior across distributed systems.
A solid understanding of databases, asynchronous processing, queues, and cloud infrastructure.
Experience building automated tests and using logs, metrics, and traces to diagnose production issues.
Familiarity with secure development practices and handling sensitive data and credentials.
The ability to take an ambiguous problem from requirements through implementation, rollout, and ongoing support.
Clear communication, thoughtful technical judgment, and a collaborative approach to engineering.

Work Environment/Travel

We are a 100% remote company where you will work from your home with company-provided equipment to set you up for success. Semi-frequent travel to professional office settings and other events locally and nationally; some overnight travel expected.

Compensation

In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range below, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. If you are hired at Dropzone your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition, all compensation packages include significant above market new hire equity grants because we believe in rewarding long term value creation. If you are hired at Dropzone your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous benefits package, including company paid health insurance, 401K Plan with employer match, Self-Managed PTO, parental leave, and more.
