Position Overview
Reporting to the Merchandise Manager, you will be a vital engine of the product team, instrumental in the day-to-day execution and tactical management of a merchandising strategy aligned with the company's business goals. The Assistant Merchandise Manager will be a high-growth retail "doer" who provides critical support in building and optimizing overall product lines while independently managing specific merchandise projects from end to end. You will drive sales performance and operational excellence during Dude Perfect's next phase of expansion, thriving in an entrepreneurial environment that requires both corporate-level analytical rigor and creative flexibility.
Core Responsibilities
- Merchandising & Assortment Management
- Assortment Planning: Support the build of seasonal line plans and communicate future product development needs to the design and product dev teams through hindsight analytics, trend research and financial checkpoints
- Distribution Channels: Support product assortments across D2C owned ecommerce, Amazon, Event Sales (Tour) and Brick and Mortar Retail
- Merchandise Operations: Partner with planning and supply chain teams on inventory flow, allocation, and "newness" timing to ensure product launch readiness and optimization to meet sales targets.
- Lifecycle Management: Manage pricing strategy (targeting specific margin objectives) and handle promotional cadence/sale timing in collaboration with fulfillment partners.
- Data-Driven Insights: Analyze retail sales, category mix, shipping data, and sell-through sets to provide feedback that drives new product and assortment decisions. Support analytics team as a partner in building ad hoc / quick reference reporting to read and react to the business on a weekly basis.
Product Development Efficiencies: Leverage company AI tools to accelerate design ideation, streamline merchandise photography, and identify scalable AI use cases across product development.
- Product Development & "GTM" Strategy
- End-to-End Ownership: Lead specific product lines (e.g., Accessories, Softlines, Sports Categories) through the entire development cycle, securing internal approvals and helping managing external manufacturing partners within aligned upon timelines.
- Standard Operating Procedures: Support holding partners accountable for best-practice processes for customer service, inventory forecasting, and site optimization tactics supporting fan experience and revenue targets
- Market Intelligence: Perform competitive market/trend analysis to ensure DP merchandise stays ahead of the sports and entertainment retail landscape and youth apparel trends.
- Content, Talent & Retail Integration
- Wardrobe Management: Manage Talent wardrobe selection to ensure the guys are wearing in-stock, "featured drop" products during content creation to promote sales. Responsible for owning all development and wardrobe sample organization for content and website photoshoots.
- Marketing Liaison: Partner with the content and marketing teams on operational activities, including product selection for campaign assets, video content, and providing CTA guidance for product promotion.
- D2C Ownership: Assist in managing site merchandising and navigation across dudeperfect.store, ensuring optimized product placement and imagery.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 3-5+ years of progressive merchandising experience (Assistant Brand Manager or Merchant level at a major retail group is highly preferred). Degree in fashion merchandising, retail management, or related field a plus
- Category Expertise: Experience in apparel, accessories, or branded merchandise; knowledge of the sporting goods retail landscape is a major plus.
- Analytical Prowess: Strong proficiency in Excel/Google Suite; experience with Shopify is a plus, and deep comfort with retail selling analysis.
- The "Doer" Mentality: A "gritty" and resourceful team player who is willing to be the primary resource for tactical execution while the team scales.
- Communication: Ability to bridge the gap between high-level executive summaries and detailed technical feedback for vendors and design teams. Quickly develop and nurture positive relationships with department leaders and other key stakeholders. Interacts well with internal colleagues at all levels and across all business functions.
Location: This position is located onsite at the all-new Dude Perfect HQ3 offices in Frisco, Texas (Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex). Remote candidates will not be considered for this position.
