Introduction

We are seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead and scale our data infrastructure and engineering efforts. You will own the design, development and maintenance of the data platform  powering advanced analytics and machine learning solutions for thousands of hotel customers worldwide. In this role, this is a unique opportunity to build a world class data platform that will guide Duetto’s evolving data strategy and capabilities.   You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive data strategy, ensure data quality, and optimize platform performance, directly impacting our ability to deliver cutting edge solutions to the hospitality industry.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define and implement data platform strategy aligned with business goals
  • Design and maintain scalable, reliable data architectures (data lakes, warehouses, pipelines) using tools like Fivetran, dbt, Databricks, AWS, and Airflow.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing data engineering team
  • Ensure data accuracy and reliability for real-time, batch, and ML workflows, supported by automated testing and CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions)
  • Evaluate, select, and implement tools that strengthen data infrastructure and governance
  • Ensure data integrity, quality, and security through effective processes and tools 
  • Deliver high-quality, ready-to-use data assets through robust pipelines and reverse ETL for application integration
  • Drive high-visibility projects, ensuring cross-functional alignment and successful delivery
  • Collaborate with ML engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to streamline data pipelines and support model training, inference, and production deployment
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in data engineering

 

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in data engineering, data platform development, or a similar role.
  • Bachelor's  in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience leading  and managing technical teams and complex projects
  • Expertise in designing, maintaining, and scaling data architectures (data lakes, warehouses, ELT pipelines),  with strong understanding of OLAP vs OLTP use cases
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Databricks, AWS), and database systems (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Experienced in reverse ETL workflows, application integration,  streaming pipelines, and delivering data products
  • Experience working with a full range of modern data engineering toolkits, including Fivetran, dbt Airflow, Terraform , GitHub Actions 
  • Track record of lead high-visibility projects and deliver solutions that meet business needs
  • Strong communication skills, capable of both hands-on technical work and guiding teams through influence and strategic direction, including engaging with C-level stakeholders
  • Adaptable in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, balancing speed, rigor, and attention to detail
