Engineering Manager

This is a player-coach engineering management role with real scope — you'll lead a team of full-stack engineers, own their delivery and development, and drive Duetto's AI-augmented engineering standards in a team where the generate-and-review model is already how work gets done. You'll be close enough to the technical work to review code and guide solution design, and senior enough to run agile ceremonies, manage stakeholders across time zones, and shape how your team grows. What You'll Be Doing

• You'll lead and develop a team of full-stack engineers through regular coaching, performance feedback, and career development conversations — building a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and psychological safety.
• You'll plan and facilitate agile ceremonies as the team's scrum master — backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives — monitoring delivery metrics, velocity, and code quality indicators to identify and resolve execution risks early.
• You'll own the team's AI workflow adoption and maturity: Claude Code, MCP tooling, and AI-assisted code review practices — building team capability to operate confidently in Duetto's generate-and-review engineering model, and reviewing AI-generated code to maintain high standards of quality and long-term maintainability.
• You'll guide engineers in building modern, scalable web applications — providing technical direction across frontend and backend domains, reviewing solution designs, and ensuring the team balances feature delivery with platform health.
• You'll own roadmap execution and backlog prioritisation, collaborating with product owners and cross-functional stakeholders to align customer needs, technical feasibility, and sprint commitments into outcomes that actually ship.
• You'll support recruiting and onboarding for engineering roles, and drive process improvements that increase team efficiency and support organisational scaling across a globally distributed environment.

What We're Looking For

You may be a good fit if you have:

• 5–8 years of experience building enterprise-grade SaaS applications, including at least 2 years of formal people management or tech lead experience for teams of five or more engineers
• A demonstrated track record of delivering complex software products on time and at high quality using agile methodologies
• A full-stack engineering background with hands-on experience shipping data and API products to production and managing them post-launch
• Working proficiency with Claude Code CLI or comparable AI code generation tooling, and hands-on experience managing engineers in AI-assisted development workflows
• Strong verbal and written communication skills across functions and seniority levels
• Familiarity with data-driven application design, data scalability patterns, and working knowledge of SQL and modern NoSQL approaches
• Time zone flexibility to support globally distributed teams with occasional overlap across US time zones

Strong candidates may also have:

• Experience establishing AI-assisted development norms for an engineering team — generate-and-review standards, AI code review tooling such as CodeRabbit or Augment
• Experience collaborating with US-based product organisations and globally distributed engineering teams
• Exposure to modern observability, deployment, or platform engineering tooling in a cloud-native SaaS environment
• AWS cloud platform experience
• Experience with reporting, dashboarding, and enterprise UI development
• Hospitality technology industry experience
