WHY I DO MY JOB | Job purpose
To own and develop the relationship with your portfolio area of CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) clients across one or more categories. To manage a pipeline and P&L, to sell and deliver the most relevant dunnhumby insights and solutions to the assigned clients, and to drive customer first value creation through collaboration between the retailer and the supplier that builds a better shared understanding of their customers and delivers mutual growth. To coach and mentor junior members of the team. May work remotely 100% of the time (anywhere in U.S.).
WHAT I DO | Key accountabilities
- Identify, build, and own relationships with client counterparts in the assigned CPG clients and the retail counterparts, working alongside client(s) in their offices as required, maintaining strong client satisfaction with all clients.
- Act as a trusted advisor to client counterparts and inspire a change with your clients around putting the customer first.
- Drive and build collaboration between the retailer and their suppliers/CPGs.
- Set the overall account plan for each assigned client, ensuring each is in line with client needs, including designing and driving the required change management plan within the CPGs and retailer client.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of assigned CPG & retailer clients and their business and the relevant category in order to advise in line with their strategies and to optimize the value we can offer.
- Use insights from dunnhumby’s tools, analysis and consultancy to create & deliver client presentations that provide insights and solutions to client issues that will then create measurable change and deliver measurable value to the retailer's customers.
- Lead the creation and delivery of consultative and analytical briefs to clients. Own the client governance for assigned clients.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities for assigned clients as well as needs and areas that dunnhumby can help with thereby achieving dunnhumby’s/ retailer’s revenue targets with those clients.
- Collaborate relentlessly across the wider dunnhumby team in order to demonstrate a joined up, consistent approach for the client to maximise client value and to deliver against an integrated overall client plan.
- Provide day-to-day coaching of more junior members of the dunnhumby team and take on some elements of Shopper Insights team leadership such as work direction, goal-setting and performance management.
- Support delivery of training to clients on dunnhumby products and solutions to ensure they are fully utilized and embedded within the client’s ways of working.
- Regularly capture benefits and data to enable measurement of the ROI and value we are creating with each client.
- Take a leading role in maximizing the chances of CPG client contract renewal.
- Lead the creation of case studies for every project and role-model best practice sharing between dunnhumby teams.
- Keep up to date with retail trends and best practices and make it relevant for client counterparts.
- Support the continued evolution and growth of our CPG client offering through creating content for and attending Shopper Insights community forums.
- Take ownership of your career and skills development.
- Maintain all required skills & complete necessary training and act in line with our values and Code of Business Conduct.
Job requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or foreign educational equivalent). In lieu of a degree, must have at least 2 years of professional experience in a marketing / business analytics role.
In addition to the degree (or alternate 2 years of experience), must have at least 4 years of experience in each of the following:
- Driving commercial value through sold products and services;
- Managing senior stakeholders in the CPG industry;
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers; and
- Relevant experience working in CPGs (Consumer packaged goods) / Manufacturer, Retailer or Consultant company.
Within this, must have at least 3 years of experience in each of the following:
- Business Analytics, reading and understanding of consumer data and transforming it to insight to action (Retail and/or Manufacturer); and
- Shelf Review, Category management: assortment analytics, customer insight analytics.
