Head of Business Change

London

dunnhumby is the global leader in Customer Data Science, partnering with the world’s most ambitious retailers and brands to put the customer at the heart of every decision. We combine deep insight, advanced technology, and close collaboration to help our clients grow, innovate, and deliver measurable value for their customers.

dunnhumby employs nearly 2,500 experts in offices throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas working for transformative, iconic brands such as Tesco, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, Unilever and Metro.

Purpose

Are you ready to shape the future of dunnhumby? As Head of Business Change, you’ll be the driving force that bridges our strategic ambitions with day-to-day execution. Acting as a trusted extension of the CEO, you’ll enable bold plans to become reality, aligning teams, unlocking progress, and ensuring we operate as more than the sum of our parts.

What You’ll Do

  • Strategic Integration: Identify and frame cross-mission operational challenges and opportunities, evolving our operating model in line with strategic priorities and external shifts.
  • Initiate & Enable: Step into enterprise-level issues or individual missions, providing clarity, momentum, and temporary leadership to unlock progress before handing over to delivery teams.
  • Shape & Align: Lead strategic interventions, shaping problems, aligning stakeholders, and setting up conditions for delivery.
  • Connect & Influence: Build strong, trust-based relationships across missions, strategy, and business support functions, influencing without formal authority.
  • Drive Transformation: Lead and evolve the programme office, ensuring the right capabilities and capacity are in place to support transformation efforts.
  • Governance & Structure: Shape the structure and governance of business operations and transformation roles, ensuring clarity of remit and alignment with strategic goals.

What You’ll Bring

  • Experience in strategic consultancy, business transformation, or a Chief of Staff-type role.
  • Proven track record of initiating and delivering cross-functional change.
  • Strong commercial and organisational acumen, with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership, ideally including CEOs or executive teams.
  • Comfortable operating without formal authority, influencing through credibility and clarity.

What Makes You Successful Here

  • Strategic agility: Rapidly assess complex, ambiguous situations and identify the most impactful levers for change.
  • Initiative ownership: Instinctively spot what needs doing and mobilise action.
  • Content fluency: Bring a working understanding of the business, its propositions, and operating model.
  • Judgement & prioritisation: Make smart trade-offs on where to focus time and energy.
  • Connector mindset: See patterns across silos and bring people together to solve problems.
  • Exit discipline: Build momentum and hand over cleanly to delivery teams.

The Challenge

  • Operate without a clear brief, success depends on your ability to define the problem as much as solve it.
  • Influence must be earned through insight, clarity, and delivery, not hierarchy.
  • Balance breadth and depth, zooming out to see systemic issues while getting into the weeds to unlock progress.
  • Navigate carefully around existing delivery, programme, and support roles, adding value without stepping on toes.
  • Operate with discretion, pace, and a high degree of trust, often acting on behalf of the CEO in sensitive or high-stakes contexts.
  • Help shape the evolving scope, success measures, and team structure of this new role.
