About Durable:

Our mission at Durable is to make owning a business easier than having a job.

Durable builds AI that does the work for you. Our goal is to own the DIFY (Do It For You) small business category.

What is DIFY? It is a new category of technology that is faster and more cost effective than a human, and much easier to use than software. It is an AI first approach to solving customer problems.

You don't need to learn new software. You don't need to read help docs. You don't need to learn how to prompt. You provide business context and feedback, and the work is done for you.

We believe in a world where everyone is a business owner. Whether it's a full-time, part-time, or side hustle - we want to make it frictionless to start and operate a business. Since launching in late 2022, over 5 million websites have been built with our AI powered website builder. We are generating significant revenue, well-funded by Silicon Valley investors, and growing extremely fast.

Our vision is much bigger, and we're looking for incredible people to join our team and make an impact.

About the Role

We’re looking for a full-stack finance & accounting generalist who can handle everything from entering journal entries to building better forecasting tools and owning our budgeting process.

This is an individual contributor role and will take ownership of all day-to-day finance operations, including bookkeeping, payroll, compliance, and month-end close. You’ll also contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and process automation.

What you’ll do

Bookkeeping & Accounting

  • Own end-to-end bookkeeping in QBO, including all reconciliations
  • Maintain general ledger and chart of accounts
  • Prepare and submit all required filings (GST, EHT, Worksafe)
  • Manage AP/AR using Plooto (biweekly cycles) and monitor cash flow
  • Ensure accurate revenue recognition across Stripe

Month-End Close & Reporting

  • Lead month-end close: reconciliations, financials spreadsheet updates, variance analysis
  • Collaborate with Head of Operations on monthly P&L review and raise key insights or issues
  • Maintain our financials tracking sheets, and ideally improve or replace them in future
  • Monitor cash positions and execute transfers across accounts
  • Work with external advisors to prepare annual tax filings

Payroll & Benefits

  • Administer biweekly payroll via Wagepoint
  • Manage Sunlife benefits: enrolments, terminations, updates
  • Prepare and file T4s and other payroll-related reports
  • Handle onboarding/offboarding from a finance lens

FP&A & Budgeting

  • Partner with the Head of Ops and department leads to create and maintain departmental budgets, and hold leaders accountable to them
  • Build and update forecasts, and ideally moving toward a more efficient tool than spreadsheets
  • Model large expenses or company changes and assess financial impact
  • Proactively identify and recommend cost optimization opportunities

Internal Finance Process Automation

  • Streamline expense reporting, new hire onboarding, and actuals updates
  • Drive efficiency in monthly close and AP using tools or AI-powered workflows
  • Recommend and implement tools (e.g., virtual cards, Float, forecasting platforms)

Strategic Finance

  • Prepare board-ready financials (formatting, visuals, narrative)
  • Contribute an internal point of view on SRED, sales tax, rev rec, and other strategic topics (alongside external advisors as needed)

What we’re looking for

  • 3-4 years of experience in full-cycle accounting or startup finance, ideally in SaaS
  • CPA or equivalent background
  • Hands-on QBO experience and confidence managing books independently
  • Experience managing cash, AP, payroll, and compliance at an early-stage company
  • Excellent Excel/GSheets skills; familiarity with automating repetitive tasks
  • Experience in latest AI tools and creating automated workflows
  • Comfort working cross-functionally with non-finance teams
  • Experience managing through annual audit processes is an asset
  • Bonus: experience implementing financial tools or rolling out new processes in small teams
