THE INTERNSHIP / 2024 Capstone Project

Octagon’s Summer Capstone Internship Program is a three-week immersive experience. Capstone interns are split into teams to work on a full experiential and strategic pitch for a new category of interest on behalf of Octagon. Throughout the program, interns participate in intro sessions learning about each of our individualized specialty areas, collaborate with Octagon employees, and work as a team to pitch to our executive board. Interns walk away from the program with an in depth understanding of Octagon’s structure and specialty areas as well as a portfolio of work. Members of the winning intern team are paired with Octagon employees in their area of interest for long term mentorship. This is a paid, fully remote internship.

Dates: June 3rd- June 21st, 2024 (IPG Holiday June 19th, 2024)

Hours: 9am - 5pm ET M-F

EXPERIENCES OPPORTUNITY

In addition to the remote, project based internship you are applying for, we have 10 open spots to work as an experiential intern for our automotive client. Please read the details below carefully. Event Intern: Octagon, on behalf of their auto client will launch a 2-week road rally across the United States visiting some of the country’s most unique and beautiful roads and towns. We are looking for (10) interns to assist all aspects in areas such as parking, production, event operations, registration, merchandise, food & beverage, and vendor management. The interns will report to the onsite managers(s) in addition to the account team. A typical day includes 5 hours of event activation followed by driving 3-5 hours to the next event location.

Bring your Capstone experience full circle through a hands-on learning experience with event activation and management. You will learn what it takes to set up, break down, and operate a cross-country experiential marketing tour while playing a part of a bigger team working alongside you. The right candidate will be able to work as part of a cohesive team and will interface with various internal divisions, client partners/vendors, and consumers. This position offers a unique opportunity to learn on-site logistics and event activation. Strong team dynamics skills and excellent interpersonal skills are required for this position.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • Must be at least 21+ years of age
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Desire to learn and develop a career in event marketing
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Personality traits: confident, engaging, enthusiastic and articulate
  • Capacity to become knowledgeable on our client’s industry, brand and product offerings
  • Ability and comfort level to communicate with consumers, potential consumers or fans in an event setting
  • Ability to travel and be on the road for 2-3 weeks straight in the summer of 2024 without returning home
    • Must be available: July 8 – July 22, 2024
  • Ability to drive for up to 6 hours at a time
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, demonstrate initiative and solve problems effectively and independently
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

THE WORK YOU’LL DO

  • Coordinate and execute on-site activities
  • Responsible for daily set-up, breakdown, and maintenance of all event equipment
  • Troubleshoot on-site challenges
  • Rotate between various activation components onsite
  • Ensure that event attendees have a positive and engaging experience
  • Keep organized records of all travel expenses and time tracking
  • Work/travel on weekends, holidays and during non-traditional hours
  • Event activation days include early morning hours and some late nights
  • Travel including driving for extended periods of time in daylight and some evenings
  • Other related duties as reasonably assigned
