Director, Social Strategist

 

Please note: This is a hybrid role located in Chicago, IL. You will have an opportunity to collaborate in-person three days a week at our Chicago office while maintaining flexibility for remote work.  

 

Golin is on the hunt for a Director to join our growing team of social and digital experts on one of the most known and respected creative brands in the world. We’re looking for someone who doesn’t just follow trends but creates them—someone who knows how to make brands hyper-relevant in culture through a deep understanding of the always-evolving social landscape.  

 

This role is about building moments that spark conversation, drive engagement and turn audiences into communities. You’ll be the architect of social strategies across the brand’s portfolio of products, working hand-in-hand with an established influencer team, leading with earned creative ideas that have the power to change the world.

What You’ll Do:  

  • Develop creative social channel and content strategies, based on best practices, channel insights and a native understanding of popular platforms  
  • Take the lead on program executions, helping our integrated teams use the inherent power of social to further influencer and talent-led programming by creating earned and paid surround sound 
  • Keep a pulse on what’s being talked about by media, consumers and influencers – and make recommendations that will drive earned conversation  
  • Serve as day-to-day social specialist for clients, assisting in the value-add social brings  
  • Contribute to digital program results reporting and strategy optimizations in real time  
  • Develop and deliver client presentations and POVs related to digital activations and programs  
  • Quickly spot opportunities and new industry trends, glean insights, and brainstorm action plans driving results  
  • Manage, mentor, and coach junior staff with potential to directly oversee 2-3 individuals  
  • Identify solutions and work with teams and independently to drive client success and grow relationships  
  • Cultivate a culture of support, growth and partnership among team through mentorship, guidance and collaboration   
  • Work with our analytics team to translate campaign- and brand-level results, both quantitatively and qualitatively, to inform social reporting and the value of digital work 
  • Support the management of financials, including budgets and billing, projections and staffing  

What You Have:  

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience in digital, advertising, or PR with a deep understanding of influencer marketing, relationship building, and social media 
  • Proven skills to build brand-level influencer strategies from scratch and translate them with complete digital fluency 
  • Experience using social media management tools (e.g. Hootsuite, Sprinklr, Sprout Social, Spredfast, etc.) and managing social channels on behalf of brands  
  • Experience creating and planning campaigns across social channels such as Facebook, Snapchat, X, Instagram and LinkedIn; preferred experience on TikTok and Twitch, paid expertise a plus.  
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and problem-solving skills 
  • New innovative thinking, providing recommendations and opportunities for clients to engage with influencers and consumers in unique ways 
  • Ability to develop integrated digital strategies and campaigns, leveraging social and influencer, while navigating challenging social climates and/or brand crisis 
  • Familiarity with managing rigorous vetting processes and brand compliance standards 
  • Bonus points if you have a background in pitching media and understand what it takes to drive headlines

Salary Range: $94,000 USD - $165,000 USD

 

Golin has included the base salary range or hourly rate for this role. Actual compensation offered within the range will depend upon, among other factors: a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience; actual ranges for current or former employees in the role; and market considerations.
