Role Summary:
The CNS Delivery Co-Op in the Neuromuscular Research team will be trained in a variety of lab techniques and will support analysis of biological samples. The individual will be an integral team member and contribute to advance the Pipeline expansion project(s) focused on Neuroscience using in vitro and in vivo samples. The individual will have the opportunity to learn key aspects of discovery research in an intellectually stimulating environment.
This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote. This is a 6-month position beginning in July.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Executing both manual and automated extraction of nucleic acids from biological samples
- Performing qRT-PCR, ELISA and hELISA to assess gene and protein expression
- Supporting cell culture maintenance
- Supporting histology and microscopy experiments
- Diligently maintaining accurate and clear records of experimental work
- Analysis of data and communicating findings to team members
- Participating in experimental design, optimization of relevant assays, and literature review
- Participating in group discussions that allow learning of the drug discovery process
- Participating in oral presentation of experimental findings
Education and Skills Requirements:
- Undergraduate or Graduate student currently pursuing a degree in biology or neuroscience discipline
- Previous hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques is desired but not required; more specifically:
- Handling biological samples
- Sterile techniques and routine cell culture
- Nucleic acid extraction and gene expression analysis
- Willingness to learn and strong work ethic
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a team
- Ability to communicate ideas clearly and document efforts in the lab
- Knowledge of software applications such as Prism, Excel, and PowerPoint
