Role Summary:
The Executive Director, Medical Affairs Managed Markets Team Lead leads Dyne Therapeutics' efforts in establishing and enhancing the value proposition of our products. This individual provides U.S. Medical Affairs strategic leadership with National, Regional and Government payers. This individual ensures the successful integration and communication of disease state, clinical, health economics, and outcomes research information and data strategies. This position manages scientific discussions and provides clinical insights to payors, enhancing the understanding of Dyne’s innovative therapies and their value proposition.
The role focuses on creating and communicating the scientific and clinical value of Dyne's portfolio to payers, health authorities, and other external stakeholders, while ensuring alignment with the company’s objectives.
This leader serves as a key partner across the organization, collaborating closely with clinical development, field medical, regulatory affairs, commercial, and other functions to maximize the medical value of Dyne's therapies. This role also plays a critical role in managing the Managed Markets team and driving cross-functional alignment in the execution of payer-focused initiatives underpinned by scientifically accurate information. The Executive Director will build and lead a team of Payor MSLs focused on delivering high-quality medical information and fostering collaborations that support access and reimbursement.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive payor-focused MSL strategy that aligns with Dyne Therapeutics’ overall business objectives and product portfolio
- Build, grow and lead the Managed Markets (MM) team, providing strategic direction and ensuring the integration of disease state, clinical, economic, and quality of life evidence to deliver clear, compelling product value propositions
- Lead development and presentation of payer-facing content, based in factual disease state and Dyne program data, that allows informed payer decision-making on coverage of Dyne products
- Lead a team of MSLs in engaging with payors, advocating for the scientific and clinical value of Dyne's therapies through strong scientific dialogue and presentation of relevant data
- Ensure accurate, timely, and effective communication of clinical data and product information to payors, including health technology assessment organizations and decision-makers
- Partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment on the scientific and economic data required for market access and reimbursement
- Represent the Managed Markets function in key internal and external meetings, including interactions with payers, health systems, and policy makers to optimize reimbursement strategies and ensure alignment with market needs
- Provide leadership and mentorship to a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and innovation
- Lead the co-development of payer evidence dossiers and value communication strategies for Dyne's therapies
- Analyze the payor landscape to gather insights on market access barriers and developments, informing internal strategies and ensuring responsiveness to evolving payor needs
- Maintain a deep understanding of the evolving landscape of neuromuscular/rare disease treatments, including payer requirements and data needs, and bring these needs back to program and development teams to action
- Collaborate with Medical Affairs/Clinical Development, HEOR to ensure the integration of real-world evidence (RWE) and clinical trial data into the value proposition
- Provide training and ongoing support to MSL team members and other internal stakeholders on payor-related topics, clinical data interpretation, and communication strategies
- Drive execution of field medical strategic plans, delivering on a strong portfolio-wide value proposition to our external stakeholders and population health decision makers (PHDMs) outcomes
- Ensure all activities comply with industry regulations and internal policies, maintaining the highest ethical standards in all interactions with stakeholders
- Mentor and develop a high-performing team of payor MSLs, fostering an environment of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
Education and Skills Requirements:

- Strong comprehension of investigational products and a solid understanding of the neuromuscular space, including new data as it becomes available
- Comprehensive understanding of the clinical trial and investigator-sponsored study processes
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively on multi-disciplinary teams to achieve desired outcomes

- Must be willing to travel extensively and occasionally on weekends

Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in life sciences (MD, PhD, PharmD) or equivalent experience in a biopharmaceutical or biotech setting
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in market access, health economics, or related roles, with significant experience in leadership and team management
- A minimum of 5-7 years of leadership experience leading field medical/payer teams.
- Proven expertise in developing value propositions, payer strategy, and outcomes research for biotech or pharmaceutical products, particularly in rare diseases or genetic therapies
- Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with clinical, regulatory, and commercial teams
- Strong understanding of US payor landscape reimbursement models, pricing strategies, and health policy
