
Senior Research Associate, Platform Development

Role Summary:
Dyne is seeking a Senior Research Associate, Platform Development, to help generate and advance the company’s therapeutics research and support its drug discovery programs. The Senior Research Associate, Platform Development, will be responsible for developing and executing analytical assays to characterize a variety of therapeutic candidates, collaborating closely with the platform group and colleagues across research to advance Dyne’s product pipeline and platform, and helping to establish and contribute to the operations of the company’s laboratories.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Independently perform qualitative/quantitative LC-MS and other analytical/chromatography and biochemical assays for the characterization of various research materials
- Develop suitable analytical HPLC and LC-MS methods for proteins, peptides, and oligonucleotides in support of the Platform group
- Perform assays to analyze the stability, potency, purity, and efficacy of therapeutic materials
- Present research findings to cross-function project teams
- Contribute to critical discussions of therapeutic structure, function, and targets
This role is based in Waltham, MA, without the possibility of being a hybrid role.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Either:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related and 4 years of hands-on industry experience in drug discovery and development, including:
- 4 years using liquid chromatography (e.g., SEC, IEX, RP, HIC, HILIC) and mass spectrometry analytical techniques and method development strategies
- 4 years performing protein, oligonucleotide, and/or small molecule LC-MS analysis (mass determination, intact mass analysis)
- 3 years using mass spectrometry and FLD/UV analysis software (BioPharma Finder, Empower)
- 4 years with protein quantification and binding assays (SDS PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, UV Vis)
- Or:
- Master or higher degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related and 2 years of hands-on industry experience in drug discovery and development, including:
- 2 years using liquid chromatography (e.g., SEC, IEX, RP, HIC, HILIC) and mass spectrometry analytical techniques and method development strategies
- 2 years performing protein, oligonucleotide, and/or small molecule LC-MS analysis (mass determination, intact mass analysis)
- 2 years using mass spectrometry and FLD/UV analysis software (BioPharma Finder, Empower)
- 2 years with protein quantification and binding assays (SDS PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, UV Vis)
- Master or higher degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related and 2 years of hands-on industry experience in drug discovery and development, including:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or closely related and 4 years of hands-on industry experience in drug discovery and development, including:
- And demonstrated proficiency in:
- Documenting experiments using electronic laboratory notebooks or similar systems
- Developing molecule-specific experimental workflows for characterization
- Maintaining and supporting a functioning analytical chemistry laboratory (instrument maintenance, buffer and mobile phase preparations, troubleshooting routine tasks)
