Role Overview

  • Location: Remote (Mexico)
  • Schedule: 1st Shift; Sunday through Thursday
  • Salary: 38,000 MXN (monthly)

Your Mission as a SNOC Engineer II

  • Take ownership of incidents from detection through resolution, coordinating with internal teams and clients as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex security, network, systems, and cloud-related issues within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Perform root cause analysis to identify underlying causes of incidents and recommend corrective actions.
  • Serve as an escalation point for unresolved alerts and incidents within your primary technical domain.
  • Mentor and support SNOC Engineer I team members by sharing knowledge and assisting with technical development.
  • Create, update, and enhance operational documentation, including standard operating procedures, investigation guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Collaborate with project and engineering teams to support implementation and integration of new technologies.
  • Identify recurring operational issues and recommend process improvements to enhance reliability, efficiency, and service quality.
  • Support security and compliance initiatives by ensuring operational activities align with frameworks such as CMMC, SOC 2, and ISO 27001.

Security Operations

  • Investigate and respond to complex security incidents involving suspicious activity, privilege misuse, malware, phishing, and potential compromise.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and recommend remediation actions to reduce future risk.
  • Maintain and tune SIEM and EDR detections to improve alert quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Support proactive security initiatives including threat hunting, detection improvement, and monitoring optimization.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to implement remediation and risk reduction strategies.
  • Mentor SNOC Engineer I team members on investigation techniques, incident triage, and escalation procedures.

Network Operations

  • Troubleshoot advanced network incidents including routing issues, packet loss, VLAN misconfigurations, and connectivity disruptions.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring network-related problems.
  • Support and troubleshoot networking technologies and protocols such as BGP, OSPF, STP, VPNs, QoS, TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
  • Validate and assist with network device changes following established change management procedures.
  • Maintain and optimize network monitoring tools, alert thresholds, and escalation workflows.
  • Support infrastructure maintenance activities including firmware upgrades, firewall updates, and planned maintenance windows.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve escalated connectivity issues.

Systems Operations

  • Troubleshoot advanced Windows and Linux operating system issues, including service failures, application crashes, dependency conflicts, and performance concerns.
  • Perform root cause analysis for recurring server and infrastructure incidents.
  • Support Active Directory administration including user account management, permissions, and Group Policy administration.
  • Automate routine operational tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or similar scripting technologies.
  • Assist with patch management, vulnerability remediation, maintenance windows, and system health reviews.
  • Partner with application owners and infrastructure teams to resolve complex system-related issues.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to SNOC Engineer I staff.

Cloud Operations

  • Troubleshoot cloud-based incidents involving networking, compute, storage, authentication, and identity services.
  • Implement and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions across cloud platforms.
  • Validate cloud infrastructure changes, deployments, and updates.
  • Support cloud cost optimization efforts by analyzing resource utilization and usage trends.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineering teams to improve platform reliability, resilience, and operational maturity.
  • Mentor SNOC Engineer I team members on cloud monitoring and incident response best practices.

What You Bring to the Team

Education & Certifications

Required

  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Certifications

  • CompTIA Security+
  • CompTIA CySA+
  • CompTIA Network+
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
  • ITIL Foundation Certification or equivalent

Experience & Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in SOC, NOC, IT support, infrastructure operations, or related technical support environments.
  • Solid understanding of common cyber threats and attack techniques, including phishing, malware, brute-force attacks, and lateral movement.
  • Experience with incident response processes, alert triage, containment, escalation, and investigation workflows.
  • Working knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and core networking protocols.
  • Experience administering and troubleshooting Windows and/or Linux environments.
  • Familiarity with SIEM platforms, monitoring tools, alert management systems, or security operations technologies.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to independently resolve technical issues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including incident documentation and technical reporting.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple activities in a fast-paced operational environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Experience in a multi-client or Managed Services Provider (MSP) environment is a plus.
