POSITION SUMMARY

EarnIn is expanding into the payroll software space with EarnIn Payroll. We are building a modern platform designed to streamline payroll management for employers while integrating EarnIn’s core mission of financial flexibility and employee financial wellness. This product combines intuitive payroll workflows, automation, robust compliance, and employee-centric features like transparency around pay, on-demand pay integration, and financial wellness tools directly in the EarnIn app, all built on a secure, scalable foundation. 

As Principal Product Manager for Payroll, you will define and drive the product vision for this rapidly evolving business line, championing both employer and employee value and ensuring EarnIn’s payroll suite becomes a powerful, modern alternative in the payroll market. This role bridges deep product leadership with cross-functional execution, partnering closely with Engineering, Design, Risk & Compliance, Sales, and Customer Success to deliver exceptional payroll experiences and measurable business impact.

This full-time position is based in Mountain View, with a base salary range of $270,000-$330,000, plus equity and benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This is a hybrid position and requires in-person work from our Mountain View HQ office 3 days a week.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Define and refine the product vision and strategy for EarnIn Payroll, aligning with company goals and market opportunities.
  • Set long-term product direction that balances immediate employer payroll needs with EarnIn’s broader mission
  • Build and maintain a clear, data-informed product roadmap for payroll software initiatives, ensuring alignment with business priorities and customer value.
  • Prioritize product features and enhancements that deliver measurable improvements in user experience, operational efficiencies, and competitive differentiation.
  • Lead collaboration across Engineering, Design, Compliance, Risk, Sales, and Support to drive product execution from ideation through launch and iteration.
  • Act as the product voice in cross-functional decision making, removing blockers and ensuring shared ownership of success
  • Deeply understand the needs of employers, payroll administrators, and employees through research, data insights, and market analysis.
  • Guide product discovery and delivery, ensuring quality execution, simplicity of use, and compliance with industry and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee performance metrics and iterate quickly based on data, customer feedback, and business impact.
  • Build, mentor, and grow high-performing team members and partners that can scale with the payroll business.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, ownership, experimentation, and continuous learning.
  • Partner with the business unit leader to align on the product roadmap and support go-to-market efforts. 

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with a strong focus on building and delivering innovative, customer-centric solutions.
  • 3+ years of experience in the Payroll space. Managing Product for modern payroll software with demonstrated success and  a proven track record of delivery
  • 3+ years of experience managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data to inform product decisions and drive metrics.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
  • A passion for solving real customer problems and improving financial wellness for everyday people.
