Veterinarian - Hospitalist
Hospitalist – Emergency Department
Eastern Pennsylvania Veterinary Medical Center (EPVMC)
EPVMC was founded on the belief that pets of the Lehigh Valley deserve access to advanced veterinary care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. What started as a commitment to emergency medicine has grown into a collaborative specialty hospital where doctors, technicians, assistants, and client care teams work together to support patients with complex medical needs.
As we continue to grow, we are seeking an Emergency Hospitalist to join our team. This role is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys inpatient medicine, case management, and working closely with specialists and emergency clinicians to provide exceptional continuity of care. Unlike a traditional ER position, the Hospitalist focuses exclusively on hospitalized patients rather than receiving incoming emergency cases.
Why EPVMC?
Our Hospitalists work alongside an experienced team of emergency veterinarians, specialists, credentialed veterinary nurses, and support staff dedicated to delivering high-quality medicine. This position allows clinicians to focus on patients, treatment planning, client communication, and case progression without the demands of a traditional emergency intake caseload.
EPVMC offers advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities including MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, endoscopy, and ultrasound. Hospitalists benefit from a steady inpatient caseload generated by our busy 24/7 Emergency Department and collaborative specialty services including Anesthesia, Critical Care, Cardiology, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Surgery, Pain Management, and Internal Medicine. This unique structure provides the opportunity to practice high-level medicine while working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
What You'll Do
- Manage and oversee hospitalized emergency and specialty patients
- Develop and adjust treatment plans in collaboration with referring clinicians and specialists
- Provide daily patient assessments and medical updates
- Communicate with pet owners regarding patient progress, treatment recommendations, and discharge planning
- Work closely with veterinary nurses to ensure exceptional inpatient care
What We're Looking For
- DVM or equivalent degree
- Internship training or emergency medicine experience preferred but not required
- Strong interest in inpatient medicine and case management
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced hospital environment
- Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based patient care
