Your role with us:
You will help ensure that Business Intelligence can safely and efficiently distribute data across the whole organisation through self-service, while embedding compliance, security, and access controls into our data processes.

This is a hands-on, execution-focused role responsible for building the operational scaffolding for data governance, with a focus on enabling data consumers (analysts, product teams, AI/ML practitioners) to access high-quality, well-documented, and compliant data across our platform.

What you will do: 

Collaboration & Stewardship

  • Act as the central point of coordination for data governance across the company, driving accountability and adoption.
  • Establish and run lightweight data stewardship processes with domain experts across BI, Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Compliance.
  • Lead efforts to define and enforce critical data definitions, key metrics, and usage guidelines.

Operational Governance for Analytics & AI

  • Implement data access controls and role-based permissions that balance security with ease of use for self-service users.
  • Define operational standards for dataset ownership, documentation, usage, and lifecycle management within BI and analytics tooling.
  • Work closely with BI and Data Platform teams to embed governance into pipelines, semantic layers, and reporting infrastructure.

Data Enablement & Self-Service

  • Partner with BI and business teams to define self-service models that ensure scalable, governed data access.
  • Define onboarding and training processes for new data users, and create clear guardrails for governed self-service.

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure data handling practices meet legal and regulatory requirements, including GDPR, AML/CTF, and emerging gambling jurisdictional laws.
  • Coordinate with Legal, Security, and Compliance to align governance policies with organisational risk frameworks.
  • Support audit readiness by maintaining clear documentation of data access, lineage, and controls.

Tooling & Infrastructure

  • Help select, implement, and operationalise data governance tooling (e.g., Atlan, Alation, Collibra, or open-source equivalents).
  • Define and manage technical policies for metadata management, data quality checks, and access provisioning.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate governance into our modern data stack (e.g., dbt, Redshift, AWS, Tableau, AI/ML pipelines).

What Success Looks Like

  • Employees across the company can easily find, trust, and responsibly use data in a self-service manner.
  • Sensitive and regulated data is protected and accessed in accordance with legal, security, and jurisdictional obligations.
  • Governance processes are embedded into tooling and workflows—not bolted on—and scale with platform and business growth.

What you will bring:

Experience

  • 5+ years’ in data governance, data operations, and/or BI platform roles.
  • Strong experience implementing operational governance in modern analytics environments, preferably in high-growth or regulated tech companies.
  • Familiarity with self-service analytics models and embedded governance in BI/AI ecosystems.

Skills:

  • Understanding of Data Governance frameworks (DMBOK, COBIT or DGI etc.).
  • Excellent understanding of data access controls, user provisioning, metadata management, and data quality monitoring.
  • Solid working knowledge of data warehousing, BI tools (e.g., Tableau), and modern data stack components (e.g., dbt, Redshift, Looker, Snowflake, or similar).
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to influence without formal authority across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Practical understanding of legal/regulatory frameworks (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, AML).

Bonus points if you also have:

  • Experience working in gambling, fintech, or other highly regulated environments.
  • Experience operationalising data governance in AI/ML workflows.
  • Familiarity with scaled data products.
