Staff Product Designer - Stake (Mobile)

Your role with us
This role leads the end-to-end design of Stake’s native iOS and Android apps, translating complex web experiences into intuitive, high-performing mobile interactions. It requires deep expertise in mobile UX, accessibility and platform patterns to balance consistency with native best practices. Working closely with Product, Design and Engineering, the focus is on aligning systems, driving design quality and delivering experiences that connect clearly to user and business outcomes.

Please Note: We believe in the value of in-person collaboration! This is a full-time, on-site role at our Melbourne CBD office, where you’ll work closely with our dynamic team to drive innovation and growth.

What you will do:

• Own end-to-end design for Stake’s mobile applications, from discovery through to delivery and iteration.
• Translate web-based features and flows into intuitive, native mobile experiences (iOS and Android).
• Adapt web patterns to suit mobile interaction models, constraints, and user behaviours.
• Ensure strong UX and UI craft, aligned with platform guidelines (iOS/Android), accessibility and performance best practices.
• Use research, data and experimentation to validate design decisions and improve user outcomes.
• Present design work clearly to stakeholders, articulating rationale, trade-offs and expected impact.
• Work closely with Product Design teams to deeply understand existing platform experiences and ensure consistency where appropriate.
• Align design patterns, systems and user journeys across platforms while respecting platform-specific differences.
• Own delivery within the mobile domain, ensuring timelines, scope and quality benchmarks are met.
• Design for scale, performance and international audiences.
• Set a high bar for mobile design quality through reviews, feedback and hands-on contribution.
• Contribute to the evolution of design systems to support both web and mobile consistency.
• Help foster an inclusive, curious and collaborative environment where great ideas can thrive.

What you will bring:

• 10+ years of product design experience, with strong ownership of complex, end-to-end projects.
• Proven experience designing native mobile applications (iOS and/or Android) at scale.
• Demonstrated ability to translate web products into mobile app experiences, with a strong understanding of cross-platform design considerations.
• Deep knowledge of mobile UX patterns, accessibility (WCAG 2.1 AA) and performance constraints.
• Strong UX and UI craft with attention to detail in interaction design and usability.
• Experience working closely with product design teams to align cross-platform experiences and design systems.
• Strategic and analytical mindset, able to connect design decisions to product and business outcomes.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Advanced proficiency in Figma including component systems and scalable design practices.
• Experience collaborating with engineering on implementation, handoff, and QA.
• Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional environments across multiple teams and locations.

Bonus points if you also have:

• Interest or exposure to gaming or emerging technologies (e.g. AI)
• Proficient with Google Suite (Drive, Spreadsheets, Docs), Slack, Jira
