In 3 years, we’ve already made a significant impact and have plenty more to achieve. We’re at the beginning of an exciting journey and are looking for brilliant minds to join us.

About the team

This team sits at the core of Kick’s user experience, owning and evolving the frontend platform that powers every interaction across the product. Their mission is to build a high-performance, resilient, and scalable web foundation that enables teams to ship faster while delivering seamless experiences to millions of users in real time.

Going beyond feature development, they define architecture, establish engineering standards, and strengthen reliability across the entire frontend ecosystem, optimising rendering strategies, improving deployment safety, and ensuring the platform performs under extreme traffic, live events, and failure scenarios.

Acting as a force multiplier across Kick engineering, they drive consistency, elevate code quality, and remove systemic bottlenecks at scale, directly impacting speed to market, platform stability, and overall user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own and evolve the web frontend platform architecture (React / Next.js) with a focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
  • Write and ship high-quality production code, setting the standard for React, TypeScript, and frontend engineering best practices
  • Deliver end-to-end platform improvements that directly address system bottlenecks and failure modes
  • Establish and enforce guardrails and standards for React patterns, state management, data fetching, and performance
  • Design systems that handle large-scale traffic, burst events, and degrade gracefully under failure or attack
  • Improve deployment safety, rollout strategies, and failure recovery to prevent platform-wide incidents
  • Partner with Platform and Infrastructure teams on scaling, load balancing, caching, and lifecycle management
  • Drive cross-cutting initiatives such as rendering strategy improvements, static asset delivery, and reducing redundant backend load
  • Contribute to feature development using React and Next.js to ensure platform decisions are grounded in real use cases
  • Provide technical leadership across teams, mentoring engineers and influencing frontend architecture decisions

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
  •  8+ years of software engineering experience with strong frontend focus
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript fundamentals, NextJS and TypeScript.

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, and guiding teams.
  • Experience designing scalable systems, not just implementing features
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership and deliver complex initiatives end-to-end.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven ability to drive systematic change in frontend engineering across multiple teams (e.g. establishing standards, improving consistency, raising engineering quality at scale) Experience operating frontend systems under high traffic or adversarial conditions (e.g. DDoS)
  • Familiarity with performance optimisation techniques for frontend systems Experience debugging production applications and managing incidents
