Who We're Looking For: Senior Backend Engineer — Ruby

Easyship is a shipping technology platform that connects sellers and marketplaces to couriers. Beyond that, we build and execute customised end-to-end shipping solutions for clients worldwide — combining global freight forwarding, last-mile delivery, and everything in between.

We're looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer — Ruby to scale our RESTful API, optimise backend performance, and drive the development of new products that integrate with our existing platform. Our tech stack is Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, Redis / Sidekiq, RabbitMQ, ElasticSearch, Git / GitHub, Docker / K8s / GCP.

You aren't just a coder; you are an engineer who uses AI (Copilot, Cursor, LLMs) as a force multiplier to deliver high-quality, scalable systems at 2x the speed.

What you additionally need to know: This is a full-time, onsite role based in our Bengaluru (MG Road) office. The role follows UK collaboration hours (11:00 AM–8:00 PM IST) to support seamless cross-regional execution.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Participate in the entire product life cycle
• Write clean code to develop functional web applications
• Drive the development of new products internally
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate development, debugging, and code generation
• Work closely with engineering leadership and the product team to establish priorities and manage our technical roadmap
• Mentor junior developers and provide training and support to internal teams
• Bring new development ideas to benefit the business and grow your own skills

You Might Be a Good Fit If…

• 7+ years of strong experience with Ruby on Rails and SQL databases
• Strong experience building highly scalable systems
• Ability to hold the team to high standards for security and data privacy practices
• Familiar with Git and Git flow; comfortable with modern project management tools
• Writes clean, reusable, and maintainable code
• Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• A background working in product teams at startups
