The company combines the patented technology of metamaterials with powerful software to create a radar sensor with unprecedented performance at commercial price points. Echodyne offers its radars to companies working in Automotive, Transportation, Critical Infrastructure Protection, Border Security, Smart Cities, Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (UAS), and Airspace Management including Urban Air Mobility (UTM).

Echodyne is seeking a Software Engineering Manager, Data Platform, to join our fast-growing team.

Who You Are

Our Data Platform connects sensors and radars through EchoWare to cloud services and internal data systems. As Engineering Manager, Data Platform, you will lead the team responsible for building and operating the services, data flows, and interfaces that connect these environments. The team will securely move operational radar data into Echodyne’s data platform and turn those capabilities into reusable services that support products and teams across the company.

You stay close to the technology, understand the tradeoffs being made, ask the right questions, and use your experience to support and vet important technical decisions. You create the conditions for engineers and technical leads to own detailed architecture and implementation while ensuring decisions are pragmatic, technically sound, and aligned with business needs.

You have experience building cloud and distributed systems from the ground up and understand that successful 0 → 1 development requires deliberate choices about what must be built now, what needs a strong foundation, and what can reasonably wait.

You are a strategic thinker who can use the systems being built today as a beachhead for broader services, capabilities, and product opportunities over time.

You are also a team builder and strong cross-functional partner, comfortable leading work across edge and cloud environments and collaborating closely with Analytics, Research, Product, and other engineering teams.

Required Experience

  • 5+ years managing engineering teams, including hiring, developing talent, setting priorities, and driving accountability.
  • Proven experience building new systems, platforms, or products from the ground up in environments where requirements and architecture were still evolving.
  • Strong understanding of edge computing and cloud platforms, with practical experience building production services, APIs, distributed systems, and data pipelines, particularly for data-intensive systems with real-time delivery requirements.
  • Comfortable evaluating architecture and design choices, identifying risks and unnecessary complexity, and helping teams make pragmatic technical decisions.
  • Experience building shared platforms, APIs, or services that other engineering teams depend on.
  • Strong understanding of operating production services, including reliability, availability, SLAs or SLOs, deployment, observability, and incident response.

What Sets You Apart

  • You have a strong track record of hiring and developing the talent needed to build and operate complex systems.
  • You have built cloud and distributed systems from the ground up and know how to balance immediate needs with longer-term platform foundations.
  • You have the technical depth and judgment to guide, challenge, and vet important engineering decisions.
  • You are comfortable leading teams that build processing capabilities at the edge and services in the cloud, and can guide delivery across the boundary between them.
  • You think strategically about how today’s platform can become the foundation for broader services and capabilities.
  • You bring a strong security mindset to system design, including authentication and device identity, encryption, access controls, tenant isolation, auditability, and the handling of sensitive customer data.
  • You are naturally inclined to lead with action, thrive in ambiguity, and drive the team toward clarity and execution while maintaining strong strategic alignment.

What You Do

  • Hire, develop, and organize the talent needed to deliver across edge and cloud systems.
  • Stay close to the technology, guide key design decisions, identify risks, and help the team make sound technical choices.
  • Turn broad product and business goals into clear technical priorities, balancing immediate needs with longer-term platform investments.
  • Lead delivery of cohesive systems spanning edge processing, cloud services, and the interfaces between them.
  • Deliver reliable shared services that other teams can depend on, with clear ownership and operational expectations.
  • Use today’s platform as the foundation for future services, capabilities, and product expansion.
  • Establish clear priorities, accountability, engineering practices, and operational maturity as the team grows.

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Form CC-305
Page 1 of 1
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
