Principal RF and Microwave Engineer
Advanced Technology Development

ROLE OVERVIEW

Echodyne is seeking a Principal RF and Microwave Engineer to join the Advanced Technology Development team and lead forward-looking RF architecture, circuit development, rapid prototyping, and technology transition for future radar products.

You will join a high-performing, cross-disciplinary team where senior engineers have meaningful technical ownership, run fast experiments, and see their work move directly into future radar products. You will work on prototype development, including sensing, internal RF calibration, modular RF hardware, and higher-power subsystems.

The ideal candidate combines deep RF and microwave design experience with hands-on laboratory skill, sound judgment in uncertain development environments, and the ability to turn measured evidence into clear product decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead RF and microwave architecture and development for advanced technology prototypes, critical technology investigations, and future Echodyne radar capabilities
  • Design, model, build, and characterize receivers, transmitter and receiver modules, frequency-conversion chains, synthesizers, filters, amplifiers, and related microwave circuits
  • Develop calibration architectures, measurement methods, and channel-correction approaches that improve radar performance and support efficient integration and test
  • Use analysis, simulation, rapid prototyping, and test to retire critical risk, establish design limits, and select credible paths to product adoption
  • Collaborate with antenna, analog and mixed-signal, digital, FPGA, PCB, systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and key stakeholders to deliver mission-critical solutions within challenging constraints
  • Establish characterized RF baselines, reusable design guidance, interface definitions, test methods, and transition packages for product-development teams

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • Strong technical ownership of complex RF or microwave systems, subsystems, receiver chains, transmitter chains, or components
  • Strong knowledge of RF and digital electronics with hands-on experience across architecture, design, prototype bring-up, characterization, verification, and product transition
  • Experience with advanced RF technologies such as receivers, analog-to-digital converters, downconverters, mixers, frequency synthesizers, clock distribution, or high-power amplifiers
  • Experience defining RF requirements, interfaces, link or performance budgets, gain, noise figure, linearity, dynamic range, phase noise, stability, filtering, and impedance matching
  • Hands-on experience with network and spectrum analyzers, signal sources, oscilloscopes, noise and phase-noise measurements, automated test, and prototype troubleshooting
  • Experience planning and executing fast-cycle investigations, trade studies, experiments, and prototype iterations that connect models to measured results
  • Ability to communicate findings, risks, design limits, and recommendations clearly
  • Competence with MATLAB and RF or electromagnetic simulation tools such as Ansys Electronics Desktop, High Frequency Structure Simulator (HFSS), Keysight ADS, CST, or equivalent

DESIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
(Looking for one or more as a complement to the core skills)

  • Experience developing RF or microwave hardware for radar, phased arrays, aerospace, defense, autonomous systems, or other high-reliability and mission-critical products
  • Experience with dual-monopulse architectures, sub-aperture processing, tiled apertures, internal calibration, or radar-level calibration
  • Experience evaluating emerging commercial technologies, suppliers, manufacturing processes, design for manufacturing constraints, or externally developed intellectual property

QUALIFICATION

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field and at least 8 years of relevant RF and microwave hardware development experience, or equivalent experience
  • Eligibility to handle export-controlled technical data, including ITAR- and EAR-controlled information

Echodyne’s technology is export controlled by the U.S. Government and we must evaluate an applicant’s eligibility to handle export-controlled information or obtain required Government authorizations.  Therefore, we will ask you as part of the application process to identify whether you are a U.S. Citizen or green card holder, or have asylum/refugee status in the U.S.

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 07/31/2029

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
