Staff BI Engineer
Who You'll Be Joining
The business intelligence team, consisting of BI and data professionals, is responsible for managing and optimizing our analytical infrastructure. As the Staff BI Engineer, you will design and deliver self-serve interfaces, reports, and dashboards that enhance the accessibility, usability and exploration of our data for various analytics use cases. Leveraging your extensive experience in BI and data architecture, along with a deep understanding of business processes and user needs, you will create, optimize, and innovate effective analytical solutions that support strategic decision-making across the business. You will ensure adherence to best practices and foster continuous improvement in BI processes. Technically strong yet adept at consulting with non-technical business users, you will understand their requirements to develop BI solutions that truly meet their needs. Acting as a subject matter expert in business intelligence for large projects, you will collaborate with data engineers, cross-functional teams, and business stakeholders to ensure they have the necessary tools to analyze trends, measure performance, and drive strategic initiatives.
How You’ll Make an Impact:
- Design and create datamarts, views, and BI semantic layers for governed reporting and self-service data discovery and analytics
- Design and build dashboards and reports that goes beyond stated requirements and serve the core business needs
- Contribute to datawarehouse architecture using industry best practices that serves as the foundation of BI
- Lead consultations workshops with various business stakeholders to understand the root business needs for new reporting and analytics use cases
- Build experimental data processes and BI assets for rapid prototyping of reports and dashboards from new data sources
- Administers the Business Intelligence platforms to ensure the environment is secure, up to date, and accessible
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
- A seasoned Business Intelligence professional with hands-on experience developing and administering front-end BI tools such as SiSense, Looker and Sigma.
- A savvy data architect with strong understanding of datawarehouse principles and methodologies such as Inmon and Kimball
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to effectively engage with cross-functional teams of varying technical expertise
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to systematically analyze, hypothesize, and implement innovative solutions
- Hands-on experience with datawarehouse technologies, preferably cloud-based platforms such as Google BigQuery and Snowflake
- Experience in developing and building ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Matillion and dbt; ability to code custom data workflows via Java and Python a strong asset
- Ability to develop scalable solutions for handling large data volumes, complex, and interactive reporting
- Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environment
- Energized by working in a small team with the ability to make an immediate impact on the business
- Experience in an Agile environment, skilled in developing stories, prioritizing tasks, refining backlog

- Final Interview: 45-minute video interview with the VP
