Compliance Engineer – Electrical Industry Products

We are seeking a Compliance Engineer to work directly with product development, engineering, and design teams and focus on overseeing the certification process for new electrical industry products across Endeavour, ensuring all designs meet global regulatory and compliance standards, including UL, CE, and other relevant designations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical product compliance, a deep understanding of international standards, and a proven track record of guiding product development teams to achieve regulatory approval.

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Regulatory Oversight: Ensure all new electrical products comply with global standards, including UL, CE, IEC, NFPA, and other relevant regional or industry-specific certifications.
  • Compliance Integration: Collaborate with product development, engineering, and design teams to integrate compliance requirements into the product design process from concept to production.
  • Testing Coordination: Manage relationships with third-party testing agencies and certification bodies to facilitate product testing, validation, and certification processes.
  • Documentation: Prepare, review, and maintain comprehensive compliance documentation, including technical files, test reports, and declarations of conformity.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify potential compliance issues and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ongoing Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to ensure continuing compliance throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Audit Support: Support internal and external audits to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory standards and certifications.

Education and Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering, a related field, or equivalent experience. Advanced degrees or certifications in regulatory affairs or compliance are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in product compliance within the electrical or electronics industry, with a focus on UL, CE, and other global standards.
  • In-depth understanding of electrical product standards, such as UL 508A, UL 2200, UL 1778, NFPA standards, ISO 19372, and the NEC.
  • Proven experience navigating US and global regulatory frameworks and obtaining certifications for electrical products in markets such as North America, Europe, and others, in collaboration with certification bodies such as UL, TUV, Intertek, CSA, and others.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to coordinate compliance activities across multiple projects and teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with internal and external partners and certification bodies and develop internal documentation.

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Familiarity with the compliance landscape for medium and low voltage utility infrastructure and power generation, UPS systems, and power electronics.
  • Familiarity with the compliance landscape for gensets and micro turbine systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations a plus, including EPA emissions compliance, and standards such as CARB.

This is the expected annual base salary range for this position. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role.

Base Salary Range

$105,000 - $125,000 USD
