Systems Integration Engineer

Remote - US

Edged has an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about sustainability and eager to be part of an innovative company that’s on a journey to transform the world’s data center infrastructure. We are seeking a Systems Integration Engineer to lead the definition, integration, and validation of complex electro-mechanical systems used in our newly developed turbine gensets and UPS systems currently in development. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical, electrical, controls, and vendor-supplied subsystems, ensuring that all components function together as a cohesive, reliable system.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working at the system and subsystem level, coordinating across internal teams and external partners, and driving integration from early architecture through prototype build, testing, and commissioning. As projects mature, there is the opportunity to transition to additional technology stacks in development within the company’s broader portfolio.

Edged is highly selective about the people we bring on board because our mission depends on it. Progress happens quickly, and we must be able to trust one another to be transparent, communicative, strategic, reliable, and driven. We seek ultra-creatives and superstar performers with a sense of humility and a hunger to make a positive impact in the world. We offer flexibility and endless growth opportunities to those who can harness their skills and talents and identify how and where to use them to add value.

Key Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Define system architectures, interfaces, and integration strategies across mechanical, electrical, and control subsystems
  • Own subsystem interface definitions, requirements, and integration documentation
  • Coordinate integration of gensets, turbines or reciprocating engines, batteries, power electronics, cooling systems, exhaust systems, and fuel systems
  • Ensure compatibility and alignment between electrical, mechanical, and controls designs
  • Lead system-level integration planning, build support, and commissioning activities
  • Identify, track, and resolve cross-disciplinary integration risks and issues
  • Interface with external partner companies, vendors, and suppliers as a technical point of contact
  • Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and test engineers, as well as compliance officers to integrate systems with a focus on scalability, manufacturability, and readiness for mass production of developed technologies
  • Support system testing, validation, and performance verification
  • Maintain system documentation, block diagrams, interface control documents (ICDs), integration plans, and BOM.
  • Operate effectively in a remote, startup-style environment with a high degree of independence
  • Travel within the United States 25-50% of the time

Skills & Requirements

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or related field) or equivalent experience
  • Strong experience integrating complex, multi-vendor systems
  • Broad technical understanding across mechanical, electrical, and control systems
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating across multiple teams and organizations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Specific Skills / Abilities

  • Distributed power generation or energy systems
  • Gensets, turbines, or reciprocating engines
  • Fuel and exhaust systems
  • Experience designing and validating appropriate airflow paths for thermal management, ventilation, and system reliability in integrated electro-mechanical systems (CFD work a strong plus)
  • Battery systems, power electronics, and energy storage integration
  • Control systems, PLCs, or supervisory control architectures
  • Developing and managing system requirements and interface control documents
  • Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and best practices (NEC, UL, IEEE, ASME, etc.)
  • Supporting prototype builds, field deployments, and commissioning
