Senior Communications and Outreach Consultant

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced communications professional to coordinate logistics and provide on-site support for open houses and other informational sessions, as well as facilitate listening sessions. This role is ideal for a communicator who is a practitioner and strategist, with a passion for learning, educating and building relationships that lay the foundation for partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement communications and outreach plans that align with client’s overall goals and corporate communications plans.
- Write effective messaging and frequently asked questions and answers for multi-stakeholder audiences.
- Create and/or edit digital (e.g., website, social media) and print content.
- Design and facilitate listening sessions, community advisory sessions and interviews.
- Create discussion guides and protocols designed to encourage participation; integrate findings into actionable recommendations.
- Plan and manage open houses (in-person, virtual and hybrid).
- Facilitate public meetings, workshops and other sessions designed to elicit input.
- Identify partnership opportunities on behalf of clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with community leaders, advocacy groups, and other partners.
- Support proposals by developing scope and budget.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in communications, community engagement and strategic development.
- Accustomed to supporting clients across diverse sectors, including energy, power, technology, and manufacturing.
- Acclimated to working effectively within regulatory and non-regulatory environments.
- Experience planning, coordinating and providing on-site support at open houses, as well as at public meetings and other events.
- Proficiency applying critical thinking to identifying and assessing risks, offering potential solutions to resolve them before they escalate.
- Adept at analyzing qualitative input and translating insights into strategy.
- Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work nimbly and proficiently within an often fast-paced atmosphere with competing demands.
- Willingness to support scope beyond immediate responsibilities in order to achieve exceptional client service.
- Ability to travel, including some evenings and weekends, for onsite meetings and events; hybrid and remote options available depending on client needs.
