Summary
The Employee Benefits Business Development Specialist supports new business growth while also providing client service support. This position partners with Producers and Practice Leaders to identify prospects, coordinate outreach, support proposal development, and help move opportunities through the sales pipeline. This position also supports the service team and client service workflow by maintaining accurate client information, assisting with onboarding and renewal-related coordination, organizing documentation, and tracking service deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development Support
- Assist Producers and Practice Leaders with identifying, researching, and organizing prospective client opportunities within targeted industries, markets, and regions;
- Maintain accurate and current prospect, pipeline, and opportunity information in CRM and other internal systems;
- Prepare and coordinate sales materials, presentations, proposals, pre-meeting briefs, and follow-up correspondence for prospective clients;
- Support the development of Request for Proposal (RFP) responses, finalist meeting materials, stewardship examples, and other business development resources;
- Coordinate internal meetings, prospect meetings, and related follow-up items to support timely sales activity;
- Provide administrative support for producer-led seminars, webinars, and educational events, including coordinating schedules, invitations, attendee lists, materials, logistics, and follow-up activities;
- Assist with tracking seminar and webinar participation, documenting prospect engagement, and coordinating post-event follow-up to support producer outreach and business development efforts;
- Track key business development activities, deadlines, and next steps to help ensure opportunities continue progressing through the sales process;
- Assist with market, industry, and competitor research to support prospecting strategy and client-facing discussions;
- Provide responsive support to Producers, leaders, and team members to help deliver a professional and consistent prospect experience;
- Coordinate administrative aspects of new client onboarding, including gathering required information, organizing implementation materials, tracking timelines, and supporting handoffs between sales and service teams;
- Assist with preparation, organization, and maintenance of client files, carrier/vendor documentation, meeting materials, renewal support items, and other service-related records as needed;
- Support the service team with scheduling, agendas, follow-up notes, deliverable tracking, and communication related to client service meetings and workflows;
- Enter, update, and maintain accurate client information in CRM and other internal systems;
- Support regional growth initiatives, cross-sell opportunities, referral tracking, and other sales enablement projects as assigned.
Key Competencies
- General knowledge of Employee Benefits products, services, terminology, and sales process;
- Strong business development, sales support, research, and organizational skills;
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Excel;
- Ability to learn and effectively use CRM, agency management systems, proposal platforms, and other internal technology tools;
- Ability to coordinate administrative client service activities, maintain accurate records, and support timely communication between service teams, carriers, vendors, and clients;
- Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and time management abilities;
- Strong ability to multi-task, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently both with and without direct supervision;
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral;
- Customer service-oriented approach with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships;
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred;
- Must have a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Washington Life, Disability (health), Travel license, preferred or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire date;
- Professional designations such as CEBS, BGA, PHR, or CLU preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required.

Compensation:
The hourly pay range for this position is $38.46 - $41.03 per hour and standard workweeks are 37.5 hours. This range represents the employer’s good faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting.
Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, training, certifications, education, internal equity, and market data. This role may also be eligible for bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
