WHAT IS THE POSITION 

As a Data Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role within Edmentum's Data team, a highly collaborative group dedicated to solving complex data challenges at scale. In this role, you will drive the development of a robust data lake that serves as the backbone for our Data Science, Analytics, and Research & in-product reporting. Your responsibilities will include leading a team of Data Engineers in the design, development, and deployment of scalable data infrastructure, pipelines, and storage solutions. You will lead the team’s design and development to ensure efficient ingestion and processing of both streaming and batch data using cutting-edge cloud technologies, including AWS and Databricks. You’ll bring your passion for data to operationalize key data initiatives that enable consumers that work with our data assets, driving innovation and aligning projects with Edmentum’s strategic objectives.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

Lead a team of Data Engineers in designing, delivering, and owning through the solution lifecycle high-performance data pipelines to support critical initiatives for the data lake in an AWS Environment.  

Design, build, and optimize data pipelines that collect, integrate, and centralize data from a variety of internal and external sources, ensuring data quality and accessibility for consumers. 

Provide coaching, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members, fostering their professional growth and driving continuous improvement across the team. 

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Back-End Service Development, Business Intelligence, Data Science, and Research, to ensure alignment and successful delivery of data-driven solutions. 

WHAT IS REQUIRED 

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. 

Expertise in Python and SQL programming with a deep understanding of best practices for writing efficient, maintainable code. 

5+ years of experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, AWS RDS, or Redshift, with a focus on performance optimization and scalability. 

3+ years of hands-on experience with real-time data streaming tools such as Apache Spark (PySpark or Scala), Kinesis, or AWS Lambda for scalable data processing. 

3+ years of experience with batch data processing and ETL frameworks, particularly using tools like Databricks ETL to manage large-scale data workflows. 

3+ years of experience managing complex data workloads, including job scheduling and orchestration using tools like Apache Airflow. 

2+ years of experience with AWS data tools, including EMR, S3, Athena, DynamoDB, EC2, Glue, and ECS, with a strong focus on cloud-native architectures. 

Proven experience working in a modern DevOps environment with tools like GitHub, Docker, and Terraform for automated deployment, infrastructure as code, and continuous integration. 

Maintain working knowledge of industry, market, and competitive landscape in the EdTech Space.  

Fosters a culture of inclusion and cross-functional collaboration with the Edmentum team.
