Director, Automation Engineering
WHO WE ARE

Our goal is to ensure that all students have access to flexible learning environments and educators have the tools they need to support their students. We are on a mission to create innovative, proven learning technology, partnering with educators to ignite student potential. We are a Remote First organization with a strong commitment to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
As our Automation Engineering Director, you'll lead Edmentum's enterprise capability for workflow automation, internal tooling, business alerting, and low-code and no-code enablement. You'll define the roadmap, design and build the highest-impact solutions yourself, and stand up the standards, governance, and enablement model that let teams across the company scale automation safely. You'll bring AI into the toolkit where it sharpens what automation can do, while keeping solid engineering at the core. You'll partner with Business Systems, Data, Technology, RevOps, Customer Success, Support, Product, and Finance to find where automation can reduce manual effort, sharpen operating visibility, and unlock new ways of working. This is a hands-on builder role with a thought-leadership mandate: you'll be a multiplier, coding when it matters, coaching when it counts, and setting the patterns that make adoption safe and repeatable. If you love turning ambiguous problems into durable, well-engineered solutions, this is your platform to shape how Edmentum works.
In this role you will:
- Define and execute the enterprise roadmap for automation, internal tools, business alerting, and citizen-development enablement, applying AI where it adds value.
- Design and build workflow automations, integrations, dashboards, and internal tools that interact with Salesforce, ADO/Jira, data platforms, and other enterprise systems.
- Establish standards for development, QA, release, monitoring, and governance, including the responsible use of AI, and embed them across the organization.
- Partner with Business Systems, Technology, InfoSec, and Legal to ensure solutions meet security, privacy, and data integrity expectations.
- Build the enablement playbooks, office hours, and mentorship routines that turn functional teams and citizen builders into safe, capable automation contributors.
- Convert prototypes and proofs of concept into durable, supported capabilities when value is proven.
- Communicate progress, impact, risk, and trade-offs to executives in clear, actionable terms, and expand the team and partner ecosystem as the capability scales.
Who You Are
- You have 8 or more years of experience in automation engineering, software engineering, business systems, internal tools, data engineering, or related technology leadership roles.
- You have led complex workstreams that delivered workflow automation, internal tools, integrations, and low-code and no-code solutions.
- You have a strong technical foundation in APIs, data flows, ETL and integration patterns, scripting, cloud or SaaS ecosystems, and modern software delivery practices.
- You have practical, hands-on experience applying AI to automation, including AI-assisted workflow design, evaluation, and responsible adoption practices.
- You are familiar with Salesforce, ADO/Jira, BI and reporting tools, knowledge systems, support tooling, and enterprise application ecosystems.
- You set the bar for development, QA, release management, code governance, documentation, monitoring, and supportability, and bring others along.
- You think like a product person, turning business pain points into simple, scalable tools and automations.
- You are an excellent coach, communicator, and stakeholder partner who leads change with clarity and credibility.
- You bring a bias for action paired with sound judgment around risk, privacy, security, and long-term maintainability.
- You are willing to take on evolving responsibilities based on business needs.
