Educate! prepares youth in Africa to learn, earn and thrive in today’s economy by:
- Introducing an employment-focused school subject into secondary and
- Delivering livelihood boot camps for out-of-school youth, with a focus on marginalized rural girls and young women.
To date, more than 500,000 youth have been meaningfully impacted across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and along the way, Educate! has become the largest youth employment and skills provider in East Africa.
Educate! is a team of over 300 largely African staff and 300 volunteer youth mentors. We prioritize building an engaging, fulfilling and growth oriented work environment. 50% of our top 30 leaders have been with us for over 5 years, 10+ alumni have started their own organizations, and 6 current or former team members were Acumen Fund East Africa fellows.
We have been backed by top foundations such as Imaginable Futures, Livelihood Impact Fund, Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall, CIFF and Echidna Giving. Educate! won a 2018 Klaus J. Jacobs Prize and a 2015 WISE Award, and has been highlighted by the World Bank’s S4YE's Impact Portfolio, an Al Jazeera documentary, BBC, The Brookings Institution as one of 14 case studies on scaling education, and the Gates Foundation as a Goalkeepers Accelerator. In 2022, we received a catalytic investment from philanthropist Mackenzie Scott to scale our systems change work.

Position Overview
Educate!, an award-winning non-profit social enterprise, is looking for self-driven, highly enterprising, and enthusiastic candidates to fill the Field Operations Assistant Positions(3) in Kamuli, Tororo and Iganga in Uganda. The successful candidates will join our high-performing Educate! Field Operations Team.
Educate! prides in creating and spreading this impact to thousands of more youth across the Country. The Field Ops Assistants will be at the heart of supporting the mobilization of ambitious youths, recruit and supporting a team of mentors that will be delivering the skills-based course & mentorship to the youths, support in Monitoring, Evaluation, & database; and field logistics management, Support reporting of program activities implemented and driving mentors' reporting of completed activities. Resolving mentor issues or concerns.

Educate!'s long-term vision is to design solutions that measurably impact millions of youth across Africa each year. By 2025, we aim to scale our annual reach by 4x and measurably impact over 400,000 new youth.
Performance Objectives
Mentor recruitment (10%)
- Use a mentor recruitment strategy to inform candidates for recruitment as per the mentor role profile.
- Source for motivated mentor candidates & hold interviews.
- Timely Submission of mentor-required paperwork.
- Keep CU to capacity including backup options at hand.
- Manage mentor exit smoothly while observing mentor exit strategy as stipulated in the mentor and Youth leader handbook.
- Keep the Mentor Recruitment Officer & Field Operation Coordinator team updated on community unit dynamics that best suit recruitment needs.
- Ensure that mentors are introduced & taken through their work standards during the orientation.
- Keep track of the mentor recruitment paperwork and upload it to Google Drive as guided by the management.
Data Quality Checks (Audits 30 %)
- Model & maintain high data management integrity when handling data requests in-person & virtually especially from face-to-face & virtual program monitoring forms.
- Collaborate with performance metrics during & after the Exp 4.0 implementation on any data collection efforts.
- Monitor/ observe at least each mentor once every program cycle & submit observation forms.
- Review the mentor Activity tracker from each mentor once a week & during peer circle meetings.
- Support mentors in meeting monitoring targets by running weekly check-ins & driving mentor targets.
- Responsible for scholar list reporting & mentor recruitment procedures.
Data Collection & reporting (20%)
- Coordinate all survey activities in the Cu & ensure accuracy & timely execution of reporting.
- Lead student focus groups to check on Exp quality implementation in the Cu
- Collaborate with the PO to support focus group discussions when & as required.
- Ensure quality implementation of the program through rigorous monitoring & providing quality program feedback
- Support Performance metrics in the dissemination & collection of the scholar-centricity forms
- Work with performance metrics to provide feedback on any data collection tools & also to improve on the data collection processes.
- Setting timeliness & ensuring that mentors adhere to the reporting submission timelines.
- Train mentors on the importance & usage of the data collection tool in the Cu
- Compiling updated mentor list in their community unit.
- All data is collected in real-time and work on all data mentors are missing
- Run weekly mentor check-in on scholar drops while reconciling with monitoring systems.
- Ensure that mentors have updated graduation data.
- Support mentors on offline reporting & tracking of scholar data.
Monitoring EXP 4.0 Sessions (40%)
- Plan & observe mentors' group mentoring & Skills lab & business model assessment.
- Provide mentors with feedback on managing sessions, and conference calls especially during best practice Wednesday & also observe remote work standards.
- Provide feedback to the mentors directly depending on the quality of the SLs & GMs sessions delivered and share this feedback with the Exp team.
- Inform the mentor performance tracker based on the submission of the mentor in-class session observations/monitoring report and data collection
- Collaborate with Po to inform training gaps on session delivery
Qualifications
- Diploma in Education or any other Business related field.
- 1- year of professional experience in teaching or working with the in-school or Out-of-school youth is an added advantage.
- Basic computer literacy and experience: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email, Google Drive, etc.
- Engaging and interactive trainer with a passion for coaching team members, with experience in training and capacity building.
