AI Implementation & Adoption Lead

East Africa

Who We Are!

🌍 Africa has the world’s youngest and fastest-growing population. By 2035, the continent is poised to contribute more young people to the global workforce each year than the rest of the world combined.

At Educate! we're obsessed with impact. We leverage iterative learning to build highly scalable youth employment solutions aimed at unlocking the potential of the world’s youngest continent.

Educate! prepares youth in Africa to learn, earn and thrive in today’s economy by:

  1. Introducing an employment-focused school subject into secondary and
  2. Delivering livelihood boot camps for out-of-school youth, with a focus on marginalized rural girls and young women.

To date, more than 500,000 youth have been meaningfully impacted across Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, and Tanzania, and along the way, Educate! has become the largest youth employment and skills provider in East Africa.

Educate! is a team of over 300 largely African staff and 300 volunteer youth mentors. We prioritize building an engaging, fulfilling and growth oriented work environment. 50% of our top 30 leaders have been with us for over 5 years, 10+ alumni have started their own organizations, and 6 current or former team members were Acumen Fund East Africa fellows.

We have been backed by top foundations such as Imaginable Futures, Livelihood Impact Fund,  Jack Dorsey’s #startsmall, CIFF and Echidna Giving. Educate! won a 2018 Klaus J. Jacobs Prize and a 2015 WISE Award, and has been highlighted by the World Bank’s S4YE's Impact Portfolio, an Al Jazeera documentary, BBC, The Brookings Institution as one of 14 case studies on scaling education, and the Gates Foundation as a Goalkeepers Accelerator. In 2022, we received a catalytic investment from philanthropist Mackenzie Scott to scale our systems change work.

Educate!'s long-term vision is to design solutions that measurably impact millions of youth across Africa each year.

Position Overview

Educate! is seeking a hands-on AI Implementation & Adoption Lead to serve as a critical execution partner as we scale AI integration across our organization. You'll be the person who takes AI initiatives from concept to reality - building solutions, creating workflows, and ensuring successful adoption across the organization.

As we work toward integrating AI into every aspect of how we work and deliver impact - setting the benchmark for non-tech sectors, we need someone who can build the tools, workflows, and systems that make AI accessible and valuable for everyone from program staff to leadership. This isn't just a training role or just a technical role - you'll do both. You'll build functional AI solutions (agents, automations, integrations) for teams while simultaneously driving adoption through training, support, and enablement.

Reporting directly to our AI Transformation Lead & Chief of Staff, you'll be at the center of our AI transformation. If you're the type who gets excited about figuring things out, shipping solutions fast, teaching others what you've learned, and pushing the boundaries of what's possible with AI - this is it.

What You’ll Do🌟

Building & Implementation

  • Build functional AI solutions for teams using no-code/low-code platforms (n8n, GPT, Gems, Claude, etc.). You’ll be like an internal AI consultant
  • Translate business problems from teams/functions (Ops, Programs, HR, Finance, External Relations, etc.) into specific AI-enabled workflows and tools
  • Design and implement workflows that integrate AI tools with existing systems
  • Develop proof-of-concepts to demonstrate AI value
  • Build internal tools, dashboards, and systems that make AI accessible to non-technical staff
  • Troubleshoot and optimize existing AI implementations
  • Run small pilots, iterate quickly, and then scale what works across the org (classic “build–test–learn” loop)

AI Adoption, Training & Change Management

  • Design and deliver AI training programs for different user levels (from “AI Level 1/beginner” to “Level 2 / builder”)
  • Create documentation, guides, and resources for various AI use cases
  • Provide hands-on support to teams implementing AI in their workflows
  • Track adoption metrics and identify barriers to implementation
  • Conduct "office hours" and one-on-one coaching sessions
  • Build internal case studies showcasing successful implementations

Strategy Support

  • Collaborate with the AI Transformation Lead on prioritizing initiatives
  • Evaluate new AI tools and platforms for organizational fit
  • Provide feedback on feasibility and implementation requirements for strategic initiatives
  • Participate in planning sessions and contribute technical perspective

Who You Are 🦸‍♀️🦸‍♂️

Must have:

  • Proven experience building with no-code/low-code automation platforms (Make, Zapier, n8n, or similar)
  • Strong hands-on experience with generative AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.), including prompt engineering
  • Ability to build basic AI agents, chatbots, or automated workflows from scratch

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with data structures (CSV, JSON, databases) and how to work with them
  • Experience with APIs and webhooks (don't need to write code, but need to understand how to connect systems)
  • Knowledge of vector databases and RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation)
  • Experience with AI fine-tuning or model customization
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace, or similar productivity suites
  • Comfortable with spreadsheets, formulas, and basic data manipulation

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Critical: Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Critical: Strong teaching and communication skills - can explain technical concepts to non-technical people
  • Pragmatic problem-solver who prefers simple, working solutions over complex ones
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapid iteration
  • Patient and enthusiastic about helping others learn
  • Cultural awareness and ability to work in diverse, international contexts
  • Fits our Five Culture Tenets (see What is Educate! About? below); Learn more by looking at Educate!’s culture deck here

What We Offer đź’Ľ
