Position Summary
Effectual Salesforce Consultants are members of the Public Sector Program Management team responsible for ensuring that customer-facing projects are delivered with exceptional customer satisfaction and technical excellence. Effectual Salesforce Consultants are “Brand Ambassadors” and are expected to stay current on leading practices to deliver high-quality, well-conceived solutions to customers. This role is essential for executing configurations, contributing to entry-level design, performing functional testing, and managing requirements tied to user stories on a new 5-year contract.
A Glimpse into the Daily Routine of a Salesforce Consultant
We are looking for a highly skilled Salesforce Senior Consultant to join our team and operate as a bridge between the Solution Architecture and the Developer to eliminate delivery bottlenecks and accelerate timelines in a configuration-heavy environment for our public sector clients. This role offers the opportunity to work with government agencies to deliver innovative solutions that improve services to citizens, streamline government operations, and enhance mission outcomes.
The Salesforce Senior Consultant reviews the current backlog and assesses progress on in-flight user stories. Engage varied stakeholders to translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure Salesforce solutions. Work collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, and cloud service providers, including Salesforce and AWS, to deliver secure, compliant, and innovative solutions. Work directly to refine requirements, clarify functional expectations, and document acceptance criteria. Perform Salesforce configurations, review entry-level design decisions with architects, and develop and execute Evergreen Smoke Tests and End-to-End testing. Frequent collaboration with developers and architects ensuring alignment, while working in eliminating ambiguities in story definitions to help maintain momentum across sprints.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Configure Salesforce platform components using declarative tools such as Flows, Process Builder, Validation Rules, and Lightning App Builder to meet functional requirements for releases
- Assist with entry-level solution design by crafting user stories, drafting initial wireframes, data models, and automation logic, then validating with architects for alignment and scalability
- Collaborate with business analysts and product owners to review, refine, and clarify requirements, ensuring user stories are technically feasible, complete, and testable
- Conduct functional testing of implemented configurations to validate business rules, user flows, and acceptance criteria before formal QA or deployment
- Serve as an intermediary between the Solution Architect and the Developer, translating high-level architectural guidance into actionable configuration tasks and flagging technical constraints or dependencies early
- Participate in daily stand-ups, sprint planning sessions, backlog grooming, and review meetings to ensure alignment across delivery teams
- Track configuration progress against story points and timelines, helping to maintain project velocity and identify bottlenecks in the build process
- Support documentation of configuration decisions and maintain traceability of changes to satisfy audit and compliance requirements in the public sector environment – this includes project documentation and Evergreen Smoke Test Scripts and End-to-End Test Scripts
Qualifications
- Minimum Education:Bachelor’s degree in related discipline AND
- Minimum Experience: 10 years including cloud professional certification OR
- Substitution/Alternative to Minimum Education and Experience: Must have at least 10 years of on-the-job experience
- Must be a US Citizen
- 5-10+ years of experience in Salesforce solution delivery, including configuration, consulting, and implementation across complex environments
- Deep technical knowledge of the Salesforce platform, combined with the ability to understand government-specific needs and compliance requirements
- Salesforce Administrator or Salesforce Certified Advanced Administrator, Salesforce Platform App Builder, AWS Certified Solutions Architect or other relevant Salesforce and/or cloud certifications
- Proven track record supporting public sector or government contracting clients, with a strong understanding of compliance frameworks and federal IT standards
- Expert-level proficiency in Salesforce declarative tools, including Flows, Lightning App Builder, Validation Rules, Approval Processes, and custom metadata
- Deep understanding of the agile software development lifecycle (SDLC), backlog management, sprint execution, and story lifecycle
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and translate complex business requirements into scalable, secure, and maintainable Salesforce solutions
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to bridge business and technical teams
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture and experience working with AWS in a solution engineering capacity
- Experience coordinating and communicating with various stakeholders, including cloud vendors, system owners, and technical teams, to deliver successful cloud-based solutions
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Continuous learning mindset, keeping up to date with industry trends and best practices
- Ability to work Eastern Standard Time Zone schedule
Nice-to-Have Skills and Experience
- Active Clearance or Public Trust (DOJ Preferred)
- Salesforce certifications: Salesforce Application Architect or System Architect
- Experience working with Salesforce Government Cloud (GovCloud) or other FedRAMP-compliant environments
- Familiarity with federal compliance standards such as FISMA, NIST 800-53, and ATO (Authority to Operate) processes
- Hands-on experience supporting large-scale Salesforce application migrations or legacy system modernizations within government agencies
- Exposure to DevSecOps tools and processes, including Jira, Copado, Git, or CI/CD pipelines for Salesforce
- Prior engagement with government clients such as DHS, VA, HHS, DoD, or state/local agencies
- Experience working within SAFe, Scrum, or hybrid agile delivery models in public sector programs
- Understanding of Section 508 compliance and accessible solution design best practices
