Cloud Migration Planning Analyst
Position Summary
The Cloud Migration Planning Analyst will play a critical role in assessing, analyzing, and planning the migration of on-premises VMware workloads to AWS. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, and migration strategy experience. The ideal candidate will be hands-on in workload discovery and dependency mapping, while also developing comprehensive migration plans, providing architectural recommendations, and ensuring alignment with security and compliance standards. This role bridges engineering execution, in-depth analysis, and solution design, making it pivotal to the success of the cloud transformation journey.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead discovery and inventory of on-premises VMware infrastructure, including VMs, storage, networking, and applications.
Use tools such as ModelizeIT to collect workload data and map dependencies.
Conduct in-depth analysis of application portfolios to identify interdependencies between applications, databases, and infrastructure components.
Develop comprehensive migration plans with phased approaches, timelines, and resource requirements.
Collaborate with application owners, business stakeholders, and technical teams to align business drivers and migration priorities.
Provide recommendations on target AWS services and architectures, including EC2, EBS, and VPCs.
Create detailed documentation of assessed environments, migration strategies, and target cloud architectures.
Identify risks, challenges, and mitigation strategies for migrations.
Ensure security and compliance requirements are met in the target AWS environment.
Act as a subject matter expert on AWS migration best practices.
Present findings and plans to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
Qualifications
Hands-on experience with VMware environments and tools.
Strong knowledge of AWS core services (EC2, EBS, VPC, IAM, etc.).
Experience conducting workload discovery, dependency mapping, and application portfolio analysis.
Proven ability to develop and execute detailed migration plans.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to executives and technical teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
Must be a US Citizen residing in the US.

- AWS SAA Certification
- VMware VCP-DCV
- Python
- 5+ years data analytics experience
- 3-5 years Enterprise Architecture or Infrastructure Management
Salary Range for this position: $150,000-$180,000
