Engineering Manager - Digital Design

San Jose, CA OR Pittsburgh, PA

Efficient is developing the world’s most energy-efficient general-purpose computer processor. Efficient’s patented technology uses 100x less energy than state of the art commercially available ultra-low-power processors and is programmable using standard high-level programming languages and AI/ML frameworks. This level of efficiency makes perpetual, pervasive intelligence possible: run AI/ML continuously on a AA battery for 5-10 years. Our platform’s unprecedented level of efficiency enables IoT devices to intelligently capture and curate first-party data to drive the next major computing revolution

Efficient is looking for an  Engineering Manager to manage the digital design and verification teams. This is a unique opportunity to work with a skilled engineering team developing the world’s most efficient, programmable processor. The manager will collaborate with team leads to set the roadmap and priorities for each team. They will be deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of each team, while also having the opportunity to engage with external partners to augment internal engineering efforts. If you are an engineering manager who wants to play an integral role in building the next generation of energy-efficient processors, this is for you!

    • Developing clear statements of work
    • Conducting frequent alignment meetings
    • Tracking the progress of external contractors

Required Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • Must be an excellent manager with 5+ years of post-graduate experience
  • Must have background in digital design, having worked as an engineer AND having managed a team of digital design engineers

  • Prior experience leading projects and scaling teams for growth in chip design
  • Outstanding communication skills and a strong attention to detail

Desired Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • Experience in developing and driving engineering methodologies — such as implementing quality gates, defining engineering flows, or similar process improvements — is a strong plus
  • Some proficiency with (System) Verilog, Python, UVM, and/or TCL
  • Some knowledge of digital verification methodologies (e.g. constraint-random verification, formal, etc.)
  • Some experience with various EDA CAD tools (e.g. Xcelium, Genus, etc.) and their use in a flow
  • Familiarity with computer architecture

We offer a competitive salary for this role, generally ranging from $200,000 to $230,000, along with meaningful equity and comprehensive benefits. The final compensation package will be based on your experience and location, with some flexibility to ensure we align with the right candidate.
