Sr Manager, Supply Chain and Operations
Efficient is developing the world’s most energy-efficient general-purpose computer processor. Efficient’s patented technology uses 100x less energy than state of the art commercially available ultra-low-power processors and is programmable using standard high-level programming languages and AI/ML frameworks. This level of efficiency makes perpetual, pervasive intelligence possible: run AI/ML continuously on a AA battery for 5-10 years. Our platform’s unprecedented level of efficiency enables IoT devices to intelligently capture and curate first-party data to drive the next major computing revolution
We are seeking a Sr. Manager, Supply Chain and Operations with a deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing cycles to ensure our global supply chain runs with precision, agility, and resilience—keeping production ramps on schedule and customer commitments met.
As a Sr. Manager, supply chain and operations will oversee end-to-end semiconductor supply chain activities, from wafer starts to final packaged product delivery, including demand planning, procurement, production scheduling, inventory management, and logistics. This role demands strong coordination across wafer fabs, OSATs (Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test), and component suppliers, while navigating the complexity of long lead times, constrained capacity, and rapid technology transitions. This role will deeply coordinate between engineering, manufacturing, and supplier partners to mitigate risk, optimize lead times, and maintain quality standards in a fast-moving, early-stage company.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Forecasting:
- Translate sales and product roadmaps into wafer start and assembly/test capacity plans.
- Develop long-range supply strategies to support product ramps, tape-outs, and EOL (end-of-life) transitions.
- Align demand forecasts with foundry slot reservations and OSAT booking commitments.
Supplier & Partner Management:
- Manage relationships with global wafer foundries, substrate manufacturers, and OSAT partners.
- Negotiate wafer allocation, assembly/test throughput, and critical material availability (e.g., photoresists, substrates, lead frames).
- Monitor supplier yield, cycle time, and on-time delivery performance; drive corrective actions as needed.
Operational Execution:
- Oversee wafer starts, work-in-progress (WIP) tracking, and lot prioritization to meet NPI (New Product Introduction) and production schedules.
- Coordinate engineering sample builds and pre-production lots to align with product qualification milestones.
- Ensure compliance with export controls, ITAR, and semiconductor-specific trade regulations.
- Optimize die bank inventory levels and packaged unit inventory to balance risk and flexibility.
Risk Management & Continuous Improvement:
- Proactively identify risks from global capacity shortages, material constraints, or geopolitical events impacting semiconductor supply.
- Implement yield tracking and excursion management processes in collaboration with Quality and Engineering.
- Leverage analytics and semiconductor lifecycle metrics (e.g., cycle time from wafer start to ship) to improve predictability and reduce lead times.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of supply chain experience in the semiconductor industry.
- Strong knowledge of wafer fabrication processes, assembly/test operations, and semiconductor manufacturing constraints.
- Proven experience managing foundry and OSAT partner relationships.
- Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and supply chain analytics tools.
- Exceptional problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Willingness to travel between San Jose and Pittsburgh offices, and/or to partner sites, as needed.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree (MBA or related technical field) preferred.
- Experience in high-mix, low-volume semiconductor manufacturing.
- Knowledge of yield management systems, fab scheduling tools, or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
We offer a competitive salary for this role, generally ranging from $160,000 to $210,000, along with meaningful equity and comprehensive benefits. The final compensation package will be based on your experience and location, with some flexibility to ensure we align with the right candidate.
