What you will do:
Electra is seeking a hands-on and detail-oriented Test Technician I to support basic testing operations in a laboratory and pilot-scale environment. This entry-level role is ideal for individuals with foundational technical skills who are eager to learn and grow within a fast-paced, innovation-driven organization. The Test Technician will assist in executing test procedures, maintaining equipment, and collecting data under the supervision of senior technical staff.
Responsibilities include:
- Perform routine testing of materials, components, and systems following established procedures
- Assist in setting up and operating laboratory and pilot-scale equipment
- Record test data accurately and maintain detailed logs of procedures and results
- Support equipment cleaning, calibration, and basic maintenance tasks
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Communicate test observations and issues to senior technicians and engineers
- Assist in inventory management of lab supplies and consumables
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous improvement efforts
What we need you to bring to the team:
- High school diploma or GED required with technical coursework or certification in engineering technology, chemistry, or a related field preferred
- 1+ years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or technical environment, with internship or vocational training experience considered beneficial
- Basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems, tools, and safety practices, such as OSHA training
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately, with strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation, with a willingness to learn new systems and processes
- Ability to work on routine assignments with limited judgment where problems are well defined and solutions readily available
- Demonstrated reliability in completing individual work tasks under close supervision and detailed instruction, contributing to team goals through personal effort
What we want you to bring to the team:
- 2+ years of experience in a laboratory, manufacturing, or technical environment, with internship or vocational training
- Exposure to laboratory or pilot plant environments
- Familiarity with basic measurement tools (e.g., calipers, multimeters, scales)
- Experience working in a team-oriented, safety-conscious setting
- Interest in materials science, chemistry, or engineering fields
Compensation:
- The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $21-$24 per hour and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
