What you will do:  

Electra is seeking an experienced Senior EHS Specialist to lead and enhance our EHS programs across all operations. This role is critical in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, promoting a culture of safety, and driving continuous improvement in workplace health and safety. The ability to develop solutions to sophisticated challenges that improve safety, efficiency and performance are keys to success for this role. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and programs in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. 
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and inspections to identify hazards and ensure regulatory compliance. 
  • Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses; develop and implement corrective and preventive actions. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate EHS considerations into operational processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). 
  • Provide EHS training and education to employees, contractors and new hires. 
  • Monitor and report on identified EHS performance metrics; recommend and drive improvements. 
  • Provide guidance to frontline employees on activities involving Energy Isolation, Fall Protection, Electrical Safety, and Critical Lifts. 
  • Ability to serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and external auditors. 
  • Champion early hazard mitigation using the hierarchy of Controls 
  • Develop, maintain, and provide guidance on environmental processes and policies; conduct required environmental training. 
  • Ability to conduct task and position-specific hazard assessments  
  • Ongoing maintenance of Learning Management System 
  • Coaches and influences peers, supported operations, and functional teams regarding OSHA employee and construction safety.  
  • Monitor and close out action items stemming from incident investigations, hazard analyses and/or audits. 

What we need you to bring to the team:   

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in health and safety, preferably in a manufacturing environment (excluding internships, co-ops, and other school projects)
  • 24-hour HAZWOPER certification or willingness to obtain is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA requirements in general industry and construction site safety
  • Proven leadership in managing cross-functional EHS initiatives
  • Familiarity with emergency management and response activities
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Exhibits advanced, wide-ranging experience using in-depth professional knowledge, acumen, concepts, and company objectives to develop and resolve complex models and procedures
  • Provides solutions to issues in creative and effective ways
  • Understands the interrelationships of different disciplines and contributes to cross-functional initiatives
  • Directs the application of existing principles and guides development of new policies and ideas
  • Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and exercises judgment in selecting methods, evaluating, and adapting complex techniques and evaluation criteria to obtain results
  • Work is reviewed upon completion and is consistent with departmental objectives
  • Mentors more junior employees and leads internal projects without direct people management accountability
  • Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise and adapts communication style using persuasion to deliver messages that relate to broader business goals
  • Frequently advises others on complex matters and may be accountable through team efforts for delivery of tactical business targets

What we want you to bring to the team:   

  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or equivalent environment with exposure to construction site safety and health compliance oversight of contractors/subs 
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and/or 45001 audit process protocols 
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting and ESG frameworks. 
  • Experience in high-tech manufacturing or energy-related industries. 
  • Working knowledge of Process Safety Management elements 
  • Experience collaborating on Industrial Hygiene testing and results analysis 
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred
  • Certified Safety Professional CSP Certified Industrial Hygienist CIH or equivalent preferred

 

 

 Compensation:   

  • The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $100,000-$130,000 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
