The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician to provide advanced field service support for EPD's electrical power and control systems. This role is responsible for installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and customer support while serving as a technical leader in the field.
Working alongside customers, engineers, and service personnel, the Senior Technician will mentor junior technicians, solve complex technical challenges, and help deliver safe, reliable, and high-quality field service solutions. What You'll Do
Field Service Operations
- Perform installation, commissioning, startup, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems.
- Lead field service activities while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
- Perform equipment inspections, testing, and operational verification.
- Support customers across commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and energy industries.
Technical Troubleshooting & System Support
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical systems.
- Configure and service switchboards, motor control centers, drives, and automation systems.
- Interpret electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Recommend technical solutions that improve equipment reliability and performance.
Leadership & Team Development
- Mentor and train Assistant and Trainee Technicians.
- Provide technical guidance during field service projects.
- Support customer training and knowledge transfer.
- Promote teamwork, continuous improvement, and service excellence.
Production & Continuous Improvement
- Support manufacturing operations when not assigned to field projects.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations teams.
- Assist with quality improvement and process optimization initiatives.
- Contribute to operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Documentation & Customer Communication
- Prepare service reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to customers and internal teams.
- Maintain complete service records and technical documentation.
- Represent EPD professionally during all customer interactions.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, and customer safety procedures.
- Maintain safe and organized work areas in field and production environments.
- Participate in safety training and compliance initiatives.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and professionalism.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- 3–7 years of mechanical, electrical, manufacturing, or field service experience.
- Strong knowledge of medium-voltage systems and electrical power distribution equipment.
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and related software.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods while performing field service and production activities.
- Ability to safely lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to lift bulky or awkwardly shaped items weighing up to 35 pounds from floor level or above shoulder height.
- Ability to safely perform team lifts for items exceeding individual lifting limits or involving ergonomic challenges such as uneven weight distribution or repetitive motion.
- Ability to work effectively in varying environmental conditions, including heat and cold exposure.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80% of the time.
- Ability to work safely in industrial, manufacturing, construction, and customer-site environments.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks and remain available for on-call assignments as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Houston Area Safety Council (HASC) Safety Essentials Certification.
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification.
- First Aid / CPR / AED Certification.
- Experience with switchboards, motor control centers, generator controls, drives, and automation systems.
- Experience using specialized testing equipment and diagnostic tools.
- Leadership or mentoring experience within field service or industrial environments.
